JaR: Jay Graydon + Randy Goodrum - Scene 29

"Call it intelligent pop" says Jay Graydon, if it is to describe the music of his new album. But both he and his partner Randy Goodrum is predestined. Finally Jays Airplay album called one of the milestones of the West Coast rock and Randy Goodrum wrote for Toto IV Grammyalbum the hit "I'll be over you". "How much I've missed these guitar sound", I realize after the first hearing. They are the "icing on the cake" consistently excellent compositions.
Graydon and Goodrum share the lead vocals and choral singing, playing keyboards, synths and bass, the drums come competently and tasteful. One enjoys the immense wealth of experience on which the two can fall back.
In the production of the album the Compressing / Limiting increased attention has been paid. This is the music is no longer "in the face", it gives way to the aggressiveness of the "natural" dynamics ". Relaxed listening is the beneficial result.
Although JaR met only to a few joint sessions, the work acts as a unified whole. Jay lives in the LA area, Randy in Nashville. Partly song fragments were sent via FTP back and forth. Thus, the songs developed over two years of recording periods of time and on.

Jar - Scene 29:
"Midsection oriented" Bossa rhythm and a fluent guitar solo with Graydon-typical tone determine "Cure Kit". "Call Donovan" citing with Steely Pianochords and cool vocal work.
"Make Somebody" in funky style with Clavinetsound had found space on Graydon's Planet 3 or Airplay albums. Bouncy light drums and an uplifting guitar solo, a highlight of the album.
After soft "Worlds Apart" follows "Scene 29". Toto's guitarist Steve Lukather was very excited when he heard the "Title Track" for the first time. "PUT AWAY YOUR HEATER, DIX, AND LAY IT LOW THE HAPPINESS BOYS ARE ABOUT TO SHOW BUSTER, DO NOT YOU THINK THAT YOU'RE offa YOUR BEAT YOU'D BETTER BE LEGIT, PAL, OR HIT THE STREET". The chorus ends in brilliant guitar solo that is abruptly interrupted by a discussion. So funny that sounds the first time, I've gotten mixed me a bonus track in order to enjoy the song without interruption. West Coast par excellence!

The GPS system expanded in "GPS" his famous instructions to "stop and rest a while" or "Watch your step, be cool" music paired with gnarly basslines, jazzy piano and guitar sound angezerrtem.
"Cabo Cad" - Glassy Rhode Sound, a polyphonic guitar solo, a catchy chorus and creamy guitar interjections accompany until the fade out is done too early.
