I have this blues-rock album slogan so feverishly - It is finally here !!!
03.06.2015 / 0:03 clock I invite down the mp3 songs and listen to the whole album at once.
Absolutely amazing, I'm totally overwhelmed, it's perfect - more simply not !!
I'm sure that "claim" - Jesper Munk's second masterpiece, will soon be regarded as one of the best guitar blues-rock albums of the year in Europe.
Jesper expanded his range as a singer, songwriter and guitarist denying his blues roots in new exciting songs between rock, post-punk, glam, folk and soul without. And it goes back to the search for his own way - beautiful!
Jesper himself describes his style to CLAIM as "bittersweet conflict between traditional values and the inevitable break with conventions."
On the track list of 18 new tracks are included: beside gruff blues smashers, rock and folk numbers are heard also very quiet, fragile soul ballads. Many of the songs, however, become apparent only after repeated listens.
"Claim" is a plate of opposites: loud, soft, rough, soft, extremely heavy, lightweight and always exciting. Jesper has not only the blues, but run riot on the new record also in other varieties of rock music. His voice brings to mind immediately icons like Tom Waits and Jack White.
The CD begins explosively with 'Courage of Love', then it will immediately calm with 'Morning Coffee' and 'Shakespeare & Heartbreak', then groovy again 'White Picket Fence', later absolutely rock in '101 Proof' and 'Reeperbahn', with 'Guilty' and 'Cold Water' beautiful dreamy and between the powerful blues-rock 'Smalltalk Gentleman' - simply amazing!
Jesper takes but also unafraid to pieces of other musicians. His intention is on the one hand, the titles to miss its own fingerprint, without simultaneously destroying their essence. He chose to 'I love you' on the first album, this time on 'Death Do not Have No Mercy' by Reverend Gary Davis from the 1920s - great !!!
And as a perfect addition there is the conclusion on the CD live songs like the dreamy 'Timless throne' and 'The Everlasting good' and the profound 'Lady Riversong' and 'Takes Two'.
Jesper has this new album recorded with an unprecedentedly good production team: with this Mocky in California, John Spencer in New York and Sepalot the flowerpot in Munich. Some songs created in one go, and others were carried around a small black leather booklet about weeks in Jespers and eventually merged into a feeling mosaic.
Jesper is a generations-spanning phenomenon. He is naturally sensitive, withdrawn sympathetic, unpretentious acting, at any time fresh and distinctive. Jesper is a singer who thanks him for autograph requests. He is absolutely cult suspect with his honest music and always reserves but the necessary grounding.
But the best are his live concerts: the young and large rock and blues talent often puts two-hour blues rock shows out the same search of her. Jesper's absolutely sensational and extremely expressive voice and his sometimes delicate and then again brute guitar playing are captivating and engaging, and give each his own songs depth and distinctive touch. His loose style leaves the audience usually close approach and the result is an almost intimate, family atmosphere, as it arises only at very special concerts! And his songs are live much clearer, rougher, rockier, original!
Although the stages are now getting bigger, Jesper tries to make them the living room. He says, "as soon as it is intimate, it is also raw and honest". (See video on youtube beads)
I'm looking forward to his concert tour from April 10, 2015! A must for any blues rock fan!
Well, now I press the play button again and listen claim one more time and dance to along the Spree River: with Jesper's music I entschwebe into higher spheres, discover again my original spontaneous His full clarity and madness - yeah, Jesper is addictive and free !!!
