Omitting the fact that the story is delivered in the first person by Axel, nephew of Professor Lidenbrock "Journey to the Center of the Earth" contains the usual elements of the novels of Jules Verne. Indeed, the group of heroes is again consists exclusively of men to accompany Lidenbrock and Axel in the depths of the volcano, the mighty hunter Hans eider of his condition and expedition leader. The female roles are again restricted to a bare minimum with the maid Martha and the young Gretchen, Axel fiancée and pupil of the professor. This time, the character at the phlegmatic character and absolute quiet is not a hero but the main secondary character, Hans. Causing little, right in his boots, he is only following the instructions of Professor and realizes its role perfectly guide, not hesitating to come to the aid of his companions needed. In "Five Weeks in a Balloon," the character of Dick served as a counterweight to that of Fergusson. we considered the expedition of his friend and did not know it clearly. Here it is Axel who plays this role with his uncle alternating moments of profound disagreement and those perfect match. Contrary to what one might expect, the expedition of our heroes will not happen in the majority in the "new world" far from it. It is indeed necessary to wait until the third book (The paperback) after a hundred pages to see the team achieve the desired fine crater. We will have 100 more pages to go out of the caves, galleries and other underground networks, before the discovery of the inner world and return occupy the last third of the novel. First work "fantastic" Jules Verne "Journey to the Center of the Earth" has all of the masterpiece of the genre. Exciting from start to finish, uncertain about its outcome (or rather the place of this outcome) always well documented and therefore totally immersive, this is a novel addition to the author to be classified in the classical category of literature. And after trying to visit the center of the Earth, Jules Verne will send us much further in his next novel "From the Earth to the Moon." What a program!
