Always was stable for a certain time. Then came ever day X, then went nothing more, no telephone, no Internet. A power reset never brought what. The box had to always be reset to factory settings. I got to the part also every time reconfigure because loading an old config that caused it then not.
First of all: I run several websites. Updates I have always done via FTP. And then came the day X. During an update, the line went dead. I got no more connection with my web space. The usual power and reset factory settings did not help. Direct connection PC and modem worked against it without any problems. By that I had contacted the AVM Support. The have the error, of course within a sec. had found: It is the cable modem, not at the Fritz box. The objection that the router is directly connected to PC to the modem and Netgear alternative without problems, one has simply ignored. Ultimately, the Fritz box automatically banned IP addresses. I have the Fritz box then claimed as defective at my provider and get a new one. Lo and behold, the link to my web space with different IPs working again. However, only until next update. And again the Fritz box made dense and again consisted of AVM Support that it is on the modem, not at the Fritz box. Purely by chance just stand a FW update to, this flashed and surprise, surprise, suddenly it went again. Jaja, located on the modem, not to the frit.
It will be the end already can almost think it was then again an update on my homepages. And during the upload via FTP: Peng, Fritz made tight again. And again I could do the rest of the update via computer directly to the modem. The website itself also could not be accessed directly via a browser just because the Fritz box had the IP banned.
Support technically it was a fix. AVM blamed on the modem, the provider blaming AVM. Ultimately also obvious that there had to be at the Fritz box if it worked without problems with an alternative equipment.
I then changed my contract. Telephone ran in future via the modem, behind the modem I have a D-Link router connected indeed its service without any problems and arbitrary censorship.
The intriguing USB connection I had used for our printer to print more on the network. As a network storage I see the connection only conditionally usable. Transmission rates below 5 Mbits are just plain weak.
The Fritzbox I then disposed of on eBay.
I'm cured of AVM. They want the right for their money boxes. The support, however, is extremely grottig. What I do think the worst is the fact that even today AVM router builds and sells, who only 100 MBit LAN connections. Since 10 years, 1 Gbit NICs standard in many PCs and laptops.
