The scene: the earth after the Apocalypse. The animals became human, men become beasts. Kamandi is the last man on earth, "The last boy on earth". All that could be grotesque, lousy, miss; it is not, it is taking and poignant. Violence and death are everywhere, and Kamandi not fared that fighting constantly, and remaining human in the noblest sense. The drawing? Kirby in top form, no less. The term "masterpiece" is often bandied about; not here. Long live the King!
