Since my TV only has Optical out and I still an older Pioneer A-717 MK2 Amplifier using the course light guide has no input, so I bought this converter. I am very happy because at least the TV is now integrated into the stereo.
Important !! set the digital output in the audio menu on your TV to PCM.
The converter performs the task quite well. When the TV is turned off and no signal coming into the converter, then you hear a slight noise bright, but even if the volume control is turned up loud on the amplifier is a signal, then dead silence.
I admit, I was skeptical at first but am very surprised how great it works.
From me a big recommendation
