Customer Review

Hello There,
I would like to respond to a more personal experience report in the daily use of the product and not on the hard facts, such as the packaging or the workmanship.

First, let me say that I have of both the Sonos Play1 and the PLAY5 in use. Later, I will make a brief confrontation.

My setup, which I run my Sonos system is as follows:
Fritzbox 7390, Powerline 546E and 2x WLAN Repeater 300E.
Establishments, the multi-room system on the Sonos own Bridge because I then bought the system, when there was no direct application in the domestic wireless. The Bridge is connected with me on a Fritz Repeater 300E and provides about their own wireless for audio components ago. Brief digression for those who cares if your Sonos system is running on the bridge or the home WLAN, you can recognize it when you open the Sonos app and go into the settings, then click "About My Sonos System". There all Sonos components should appear and in the World Cup point, a 0 and a 1 are, where the 0 means that the system is powered by the bridge, which is then 1 contrario the house-Fi.

But now at last 5 to Play After the initial setup and integration into the system was all properly recognized. Then I immediately picked out my playlist with my favorite songs and was a bit ambivalent, what I now to make of it. On one hand, everything sounded more voluminous than in Play1, on the other hand, it sounded a bit brummelig so relaxed listening was quite exhausting. This is but easy to fix, if one carries out again in the app in the settings of the equalizer PLAY5. This is kept quite slim as with any Sonos Speaker, except treble and bass only gibts ne setting for Loudness and exactly this was to blame for the inflated hum. This setting disables and everything was fine.

The same songs sounded much more relaxed and made fun, but were still not really convincing. Only after 3-4 days, when the speaker had something "recorded", the point had been reached where you can say, now it sounds fine.
One can hear it wonderful pop music, but also rock, jazz and classical music. Hip Hop and RNB goes well, but should be there to watch your bass settings, as the speaker may begin from approximately half volume to give air noise of the bass reflex port on its own. Do not misunderstand that the speakers blaring now or buzzing, but when it comes to fat basses of 80-250Hz, hear blow the membrane movement of small subwoofer by the rear bass reflex port. If you do not always hear "A Milli" by Lil Wayne but also times Sultans of Swing or Wish You Were Here is nothing to hear from the hum.

Otherwise, the Speaker is wonderfully easy to handle, you will be informed immediately via firmware updates in the app, which also went so far smoothly perform. Likewise, you can wonderfully combine its playlists from different music sources in a Sonos playlist. So it's possible his Liebliengstracks from Spotify, Deezer and Amazon Music etc. place them in a playlist without having to constantly have to switch between sources.
Airplay and Bluetooth streaming will not, but he does not have that too. In my purely subjective opinion that is also better, because you no music active on the Speaker sends as in the methods just mentioned, so that the good cook can happen that the music falters once you leave the room. No, here you are the only speaker command to bring the music of XYZ and he makes very good and reliable.

Until now, with the streaming service and no major problems have paralyzed as a hacker Spotify except Christmas 2014 but since Sonos can also nothing for it.

Finally, a brief comparison to Play1. The little play was my first speaker, and I am thrilled by the sound of this tiny cubes. But if you approach it with the euphoria / expectations and thinks the PLAY5 then again represents a dramatic increase to Play1 is mistaken. The increase may be in the range of 20-30%, ie by more Loudspeakerchassis sounding voices and instruments again a little tidier, the Play 5 also has the only Speaker private (mini) Subwoofer to one notices, with which one but no walls can enter.

Conclusion:
A solid Speaker of Sonos, like all products from this manufacturer works very reliably, but I might make my thoughts in retrospect whether two Play1 (as a stereo pair) would not perhaps have been a better choice.
