As SWR 3 first of 80 - he introduced noon Saturday a record hit parade I was very excited as a young lad. As this album then landed on the 1st place after the first edition, I was thunderstruck, because had that such an epic album in the fall time with synthesizers, Popgedudel and one-hit Wondern enforced was not self-evident. All the more it shows that A Trick of the Tail album that has been hitherto best Genesis well. Too bad that Steve Hackett had left so early the band because his complex guitar playing was the perfect counterpart to the very dominant keyboard playing of Tony Banks. What I always appreciated to Phil Collins is the fact that he's gone vocally with Genesis, at least to his vocal problems in 1987 at the borders. His solo works have never really promised me, too soft, right purely left out. In a concert tour in 1980 from Sheffield Collins sings in the song Genesis "Squonk" so awesome rough and full dedication as I have otherwise never heard of it. One indicator that was to leave him after Gabriel's departure to the mike was absolutely right decision. Even today I prefer this album from all who have come after that with the exception of Duke, the last for me right Genesis album.
