Once received, I plugged in my laptop that has Windows Vista, it was immediately recognized not need to install driver. A new drive letter appears in our workstation ("computer") is our new hard drive and can be slipping deposit any files and folders.
Ditto on my desktop PC with Windows XP. (I'm not talking about systems other than Windows, such as Linux or Mac since I do not know. It seems to me that on a Mac, format in a very specific format for that drive this market both reading and writing. A search on google "DD NTFS Mac" will tell you more).
I then put on several directories and subdirectories with videos, the transfer was pretty fast. Then I connected the HDD into the USB port of my Philips TV since it is DivX player. And there idem, DD has immediately been recognized and I was able to watch videos without problems. I fell asleep watching TV and the next morning, the disk that remained connected throughout the night with films that have turned loop was not even hot (well, just very slightly).
It is for me a great buy. I always bought Seagate hard drives because I have always been very happy with this brand and most importantly, I've never had a failure of a Seagate hard drive. I know it can happen but next 2 Maxtors I bought and are all 2 HS, there is no photo.
One downside: it's a shame that a pocket is not supplied with, especially since a few years ago, I bought a Seagate external HDD and a pouch was delivered me.
I had to buy 2 bags, the first not suitable. FYI, the logic box covers are a perfect size for this drive (unlike the Eva brand ABZ-S pouch that is slightly too small).
PS: For those who want to connect the DD on a DivX player that accepts only hard drives Fat32 (though NTFS is becoming increasingly common in new divX players, there are still readers who don ' accept only hard drives formatted in FAT32): it's simple, you just format your hard drive in FAT32 format. There are small software like "fat32formatter" which, in 2 or 3 clicks, you will format your drive in FAT32. And once your drive fat32, it does not prevent you from using it on XP, Vista or Seven, all Windows systems hard drives can read both FAT32 in NTFS.
Edit: 10 months later, after a fairly intensive use, my DD still works as well.
