The device itself, to which the cuff is infected, has a huge, beautiful backlit display, on which all measured values can be easily read.
Amazing: when the device is switched on, the measurement begins. This is of course annoying if you just want to read a couple of times values. Well.
The device itself has 2x500 memories for two users and a "guest access". Other devices that I know, some of them have only 10 storage locations.
The measuring process itself runs right off quickly and surprisingly quiet. The measured values appear to be correct, but they are consistent with the results that I have measured with other devices.
So far, so normal.
The special thing about the Medisana Blood Pressure Monitor is connectivity to Android and iOS devices.
To save the data reasonable, the establishment of a Medisana accounts is necessary. Who does not like to publish his data can a) buy another device or b) specify more or less anonymous data. Once date and time are entered correctly on the device itself, the part is automatically detected by the matching app and the data is synchronized via Bluetooth. It is not necessary to make further settings on the phone (in my case: Iphone, Android should be exactly). I like that very well, because in other equipment a separate settings in the Bluetooth menu is to be made, which is likely to annoy one or another safe. That's fine and also makes it technically less savvy people easy to use the device.
When setting up the app, the user will, incidentally, be asked if you would like to start as reference values the recommendation of the WHO or would like to create their own values based.
The app itself seems at first somewhat messy and is intended to encourage the purchase of further Medisana devices. Because the app works not only with the sphygmomanometer but also with the activities Tracker, the scale and other equipment of Medisana. From the app you can order now the right equipment and getting a nice discount appears, one gets the "account holder" at Medisana. However, a glance, for example, in a large American department store show me immediately that the traditional online price significantly below the displayed from within the app, reduced price, is. But only at the margins.
On the device, the averages for the last three measurements are displayed in the app, the values are displayed in the weekly average.
As already described, I find the app a bit confusing and mean, that would be better. Well, on the other hand, that the connection works with the BU 550 without further adjustment and the connection is established immediately and automatically. In addition, the connection to the Healt App also works without problems.
As a bonus, there is still the possibility of a health check with a value of EUR 60, - to carry out.
My Conclusion:
Good, I like that the unit also works entirely without phone or computer and the connection is not necessary to read the values. The display is large and easy to read, also the last values and average values can be read. If the device is connected to the smartphone, the transmission takes place without any problems.
5 Stars.
