It is known that electricity and water do not mix particularly. This meant that all your battery powered devices no longer funkionierten right after spätens 6 months. Sources of error were:
* Water entered through the seal in the battery compartment (especially with frequent hot water use - more likely reason is the different expansion behavior of the sealing ring and housing
* Contact electrodes polluted (hot water sometimes contains additives to corrosion of the hot water system to prevent consequence. Pollute the sensors and electrodes are formed from leakage so that the LEDs are lit permanently weak.
* The water-side sensor electrodes and the actual electronics are connected to each other through small wires which are sealed by means of silicone. After prolonged use, the humidity creeps along the wires in the electronics and also disrupts. LEDs continuously or not burn.
* Calcify The water-side electrode and when water flows there is no contact order: The LEDs do not burn.
Most of the disorders described above do not occur in the turbine-driven essays. If the water is not running, no current is produced and the LEDs do not light up also.
However, my first turbine driven essay was a bad design and not suitable for the usual water pressure. The turbine jumped to bad and turned only at low flow rates. After that, they just stood there. (If I returned) The manufacturer has identified the vulnerability and the diameter of the turbine wheel is much larger in the next series. Since the turbine bounces reliably at us does not stop when you turn on the tap fully. After about two years trouble-free operation now began the LEDs to go haywire. To disassemble, I realized that the contacts of the little dynamos were completely corroded and water gets through these vacated posts in the electronics.
The trouble-free operation at least two years have led me to the same type to be ordered again. They have been reinstalled and trouble-free operation. Changed only the color. With the old type was used green blue and for warm water for cold water. With the new, it is just the opposite. Green for cold and blue for free.
Ergo: Papers are wear items and one should not have too high expectations for life.
PS In July 2012, I have another model related. This is westentlich smaller in size. But was not to be seen from description. The noise of the turbine has been significantly reduced. Also the spraying was reduced by a Austrittssieb. Total positive improvements. Unfortunately, while the turbine itself was obviously neglected. After a few days they did not work properly if at any water pressure. That leads to this that the brightness (with rising water pressure - turning up the faucet) or decreases the light (in all colors) completely extinguishes or flickers. In the last major model turbine has kept at least for 2 years.
PS2 The malfunction of the turbine probably came about through a gerutschtes through the sieve sand or lime particles. It is well penetrated into the fine channels in the turbine and has the effect that the flow behavior was adversely affected. After about 2 weeks, the particles were probably washed away by itself and the device is now working properly again.
Conclusion: The essays are vulnerable to pollution, calcification and corrosion and thus have only a limited Lebensadauer. The best in my 2 years maximum. Despite these drawbacks, I will continue to use such essays (they are just too good) and replace them as needed. They cost a fortune indeed.
