A brief history of analytic philosophy about until the 80 years of the last century. Schwartz covers all major topics and names from reliable, it also manages to develop a narrative that establishes the connections of different directions to each other. With a length of just over 300 pages of course is one or the other lost. In addition there are chapters in which Schwartz clearly shows more enthusiasm than others. The interests of the author my impression clear in the fields of metaphysics, philosophy of mind and logic. Fairly opposed a cursory manner the chapter on meta-ethics and political philosophy. The text is clearly written and is suitable for a total of intelligent and interested in philosophy people without special knowledge.
