The box in which the camera is plugged, becomes quite simple and unspectacular. In its interior a quick guide insert (the content of which one really conveys just the basics. Inserting the battery, charge the battery, turn on camera ...), a battery, charger, the camera, a lens, an attachable flash and a small bag for the same and a data CD (in addition to the instructions in different languages also acts as a setup CD and beyond the Mac and PC compatible "Olympus Viewer 3" contains). In addition, a fairly simple, not just for pretty retro design the appropriate camera strap (wrist strap, however, is not included in delivery) is.
The "Olympus Viewer 3" I have not installed on my iMac. But the photos can also easily upload to iPhoto and take a look. The camera has a - either up or down - and foldable touch-sensitive display. In addition, the camera has a wireless LAN function (this the Olympus Image Share-app one must however invite to your smartphone).
In dealing with the camera I notice the following: Crisp Photos succeed very well when the subject is quite close. Even landscapes are not a problem. However, I did - even after reading the manual - therefore still the problem that the camera - regardless of the selected function - does not provide the desired motif sharp but the background. Or the border areas. With some motive to me focusing not succeed also simple.
*** UPDATE: Thanks to a helpful comment on this review, I am now the secret of the "wrong focused" motifs come and can tick above criticism confidently. On the display you can touch the scharfzustellende motif touch of a finger - and if desired the same make a photo of it *****.
Also excited rather mediocre I am of some photos that I took from the first row of at a book reading. Many were blurred - or simply overexposed, so the face of the photographed had no more contours. I note also a tinge of yellowish in rooms.
The colors, however, are really played very well by the camera. The photos that I've taken with good natural lighting on an apple market, give the color of the bouquets and different varieties of apples again intensely and naturally.
A feature that I usually fully neglected in digital cameras, are the effects filters. But it is precisely the PEN E-PL7 stops here amazing effects that allow I have now experimented already for some time. So there is a pinhole camera feature which allows the edges are blurred and black, with "Partial color" you can remove all the colors of the male subject and set only on red, blue or green elements focus. We know the effect perhaps by Steven Spielberg's "Schindler's List". Here the director used this color effect of the otherwise filmed in black and white strip for the girl in the red coat. The photos that are taken with this effect, are certainly very interesting and unusual.
A few more words about the Zoom: The Obkeltiv contained is not really in order to take photographs of distant Motvie-frame can. Thus, I will not be able to avoid the purchase of an additional telephoto lens.
Overall I am very satisfied with this Olympus - much longer must deal with it in order to also use the whole functions well can that this camera but me. And, although I have already been photographed preferably also with an Olympus.
The PEN E-PL7 is made in Vietnam, the housing and the individual parts make me a valued and well-made impression. A matching the price and design Ledertragegurt would have been desirable.
A total of my good four stars - and in front of me a pile of "working" with the camera.
