Pro:
- Halfway discreet design, but Compare this with the TW810 above
- Fits under normal Cuff, which is not the case with many of the older mobile phone watches. The TW 810 was the best and would, by design, is still my favorite for an Android phone
- Lightweight and easily portable.
- Screen bright and contrasty enough, albeit with a slight flicker in dark backgrounds
- Hardware quite OK, although it could be 1GB memory even with the cheaper variant quiet
- Sensors are working properly, and GPS and compass to go well
- 3G and Wi-Fi access in the context of a good middle-class phones
- Speakers useful
- Battery life is acceptable, came in video playback with MX player with maximum brightness and volume to 3: 40h, standby is also OK, 2-3 days, depending on the active use of the battery level is already quite fast down. The largest consumer is the display. When using Sports Tracker with Bonded Polar heart rate belt and BT-GPS mobile phone holds without display by half a day, without appreciably losing charge. For navigation with maps with display has this been going faster, but is still quite usable. Voice navigation without display again persevering enough.
Contra
- Charger takes proper USB cable but have other China mobile phone watches much better resolved. It is not even loading the keys and you have to carry around the stupid cup whenever you even want to transfer data.
- Camera on the side instead of the front. Not similar to Skype available. By comparison, just google times for TW 810, as I do that if it would have for Skype.
- No wired headset possible, that's quite normal through the USB port with other mobile phone watches
- Making calls is only over Bluetooth or handsfree. Also, the better off in most other cell phone watches that you can use as a normal mobile phone namely: keep your ear and speak ...
- The homescreen / launcher is crap! The number of objects is limited, that is, when you get to the limit, an old object is deleted from the Desktop. Hardly configurable. If you installed another manager, such as Lightning, the information bar will disappear. Who better what has been found, it may please tell ...
- The keys are on the wrong side and smoothly (tripping by shirtsleeve) when you wear it on the left, like most. (Nothing against left-handed))
- No quick and easy volume control possible only via the System Settings
- The alleged water resistance is a joke, I think for a second. There is no rubber seals, nothing.
- The stupid screw a second battery is useless, because you just place can not swap the battery. I know this from my other phone watches completely different, where I used the battery always in change. Especially with the small battery, it would be much more useful to be able to always have a spare battery case.
Improvable:
- Normal phone calls should be possible, as with other mobile phone watch also
- Battery replacement must be easily
- Forget the IP44-dung, much more interesting were a normal USB plug
- The screen might in the same package size quiet a few mm to be larger, the edges are quite large. And if it was not yet possible to make reasonably attractive design 320x240 in landscape mode, is another question. In Scrap Design and with Android 1.6 or 2.2, there's already, see ebay.
- The software should be more flexible, especially in relation to the home screen and the bar
Conclusion: I would buy it again, but there are too many unnecessary restrictions. The launcher is bad, you need the impractical charging cradle and you can not normally make calls (ie without a headset or hands-free). Once there is a comparable device with these characteristics, I will probably not take long until I replace this one.
After all, such nice things as a Debian installation go via chroot already here, and you can actually carry around his Linux servers on the wrist with it. ;)
Recommendations for use:
- There are apps where not everything will be displayed if the font is not on the smallest size. For example, the SuperSU app where you otherwise can not press the button.
- Install Lightning Launcher. Not as the default launcher, but simply put the "All Apps" icon on the standard home screen, then you have one click all the apps in the view, even those who do not fit the standard launcher. I then defines me the Lightning Launcher with a 4x3 grid, doing great. [EDIT: see notes below for SwipeStatusBar, so you can completely change to another Launcher]
- The "Rotation Locker" can fix an orientation that is needed for some apps, so they do not rotate.
- Install the Hacker's keyboard, which can be flexibly configured and adapted especially in height, as is then not keep the keyboard in the way, and you can tap well anyway. Incidentally, I have found that I better meet with the thumb as with the index finger, but that may just my individual experience.
- For mail K9 take, very powerful email program with many extras.
- As a browser loading normally Opera Classic, I still find that optimal, especially for the small screen.
- Kingsoft Office runs, I have a little of this BT keyboards with touchpad, so you can even work quite well, is as a backup solution's anyway, and sometimes one has nothing else to hand ...
- You can lock the phone with wide elastic bands to the charging cradle. Then you can use the buttons. Did it ordered a second charging cradle, where I have the lid settled.
- Who will install many apps, Link2SD should not forget to outsource the apps on the SD card.
- Linux goes beyond Linux Deploy or similar. In Debian / Ubuntu Linux Deploy however I get Firefox / Thunderbird not to run, segmentation fault would have to investigate further times, LibreOffice runs but eg well. If you make a swap partition on the map, this can be activated by shell and then also applies to Android. Webmin also runs, so you can configure quite conveniently via GUI. Access with SSH / VNC is great, everything is going surprisingly smoothly. This is absolutely an increase over PortableApps, particularly with respect. Security.
- I use this cell phone in a network Club Card with the ad-supported, free flat. 100MB, then throttling. One gets occasionally times a text message, but you will not be littered with. Phone / SMS per 9ct. Simyo has also just something on offer, what they do with the advertising, I do not know.
Addendum 7/29/14: I'm so far have been quite satisfied with the cell phone, even if the battery life lately by any APP (? S) has declined sharply, which constantly keeps the network running. But that's a thing of the installation.
What is not acceptable is the bracelet. For me, the buckle separates from one moment to the other just out of the silicone band. The seams that are surround the base of the buckle obviously much too weak. And I was lucky that the phone is not slammed on the floor or went unnoticed lost. One chicken, I will not because I have no desire to a probably already used replacement device that will show the error sooner or later as well. Now I have to think up a solution that I sufficiently stable fasten the buckle to the bracelet, perhaps with a rivet or so. In any case the mobile phone is related to this error a star deducted. Please the next version thoughtful and with sturdy strap.
[EDIT: Drill a oval aluminum sheet with the width of the bracelet as a small diameter, a hole in the middle, in the middle so bend over, so you can push through the pin of the clasp and the clasp can thus stuck onto bracelet. The two tongues with pliers to press and then fix according to the strap with a flat screw / nut. Best to try previously with a piece of paper once, as it should look. Of course, everything at your own risk.]
Another addendum 18.2.15:
Have radically Apps cleared that I do not need, including the Amazon App. Since then, the phone 2-3 days with tethered Bluetooth headset has been resumed.
Something very practical to the software:
The app SwipeStatusBar can also be using a different launcher (eg ADW Launcher) use the status bar. The new Launcher allows then of course much better fit with respect. Number of icons on the desktop (I 4x5), or even the total number of apps that are shown at all, where the original Launcher indeed has a damn stupid limitation. Unfortunately, the mobile alternative default launcher noted apparently not, so you will just ask for a reboot afterwards, are certainly a better solution for this, but do not have further tries. The SwipeStatusBar app I've just on the homescreen down and start it first, the effort to do it in the Startup, I'm now not done but should also go some way.
