The MetaWatch is now my 2nd SmartWatch. And I'm excited about it! Of course there are a few wishes that I would have, but compared to Cookoo Watch simply provides the MetaWatch more functions. The MetaWatch I've ever used on my iPhone 4S (iOS 7 beta 4) and running smoothly!
Benefits:
- Very lightweight (I feel when wearing barely)
- Slight initial setup (necessarily exactly follow the instructions step by step and follow the order of the steps.)
- Good battery life (after 60 hours / 2.5 days continuous use, even overnight, still 65% battery charge status, update: battery lasted 7 days of continuous use by Important: At least 8 hours to charge, so that the battery is fully charged after a few hours.. Although he shows 100%, but the 7-day term is obtained only with longer load times!)
- Not have a Bluetooth disconnections, good Bluetooth range, that is, the iPhone is not always right on the man
- Widgets customizable (with an Android smartphone's even more settings: MetaWatch Manager App, Noah Edition)
- Calendar Display and Notifications (all calendars enabled on the iPhone)
- Email Notifications (unfortunately only 1 e-mail account be set up)
- SMS Notifications
- Caller display
- Media player control (sorry, no back function to repeat song or multiple songs to go back)
Screen perfectly readable in direct sunlight and bounce
Neutral:
- Design is a matter of taste, but for me was one of the primary functionality
- IPhone is tended faster (however, applies to any Bluetooth gadget), but the MetaWatch has an iPhone battery indicator
- There is no off switch (because the battery lasts a long time, for me personally not important)
Disadvantages:
- Only an e-mail account configured
- Display readability in indirect, low light conditions worse, you have to change the angle (wear after a day, but you do it intuitively correct) or turn on the internal light
- Twitter and Facebook notifications (yet) present (but planned switches in MetaWatch Manager already exists)
General note:
Each SmartWatch always represents a compromise between battery life and functionality are:
The Cookoo Watch has it solved so that only 6 simple icons are displayed, nothing more, and thus to reach a very long battery life (months!). But you have to look at each alert on the iPhone.
When MetaWatch development obviously was the user-friendliness. Here, the LCD display is the lever in order to save energy. LCD display (96x96) need very little energy, but need a light source, be it the sun or artificial light, for optimum readability. Personally readability in sunlight is more important than in the half-dark room (because I use just the light source of MetaWatch) because my iPhone screen just in direct sunlight has its weaknesses.
My overall conclusion:
4 stars and my strong buy recommendation! (5's when more e-mail accounts can be config- and Twitter / Facebook notifications are enabled)
