Dr. Watson is traveling with Sherlock Holmes on the pretext of relaxation in the Scottish Highlands in order to finally surrender to the salmon fishing. Once there, they are involved in a new case that could not be mysterious. And then there's this mage ...
I am a fan of the Doyle'schen short stories and novels to his master detective Sherlock Holmes is always very critical, when an author a so-called "pastiche" - that is a story based on the characters and stories Conan Doyle - written. On the one hand you expect a story that is new and exciting, on the other hand it must, however, also in the "canon" and add not to be "different". How do I find this is Bodo Traber, who is known primarily for his scripts for numerous radio plays good, very good. The already very popular "dialogues" between Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson, that we know from the maritime radio plays, we will continue great.
The occupation is a complete success. The focus, of course, are again the splendid dialogues and squabbles of Peter Groeger and Christian Rode. Behind it Helmut Krauss, Thomas Petruo, Oliver Rohrbeck, Klaus Herm need (!), Kellina Klein and other speakers absolutely nothing to hide.
Basically, good music has been used in radio drama, which also really like (unlike earlier episodes of the series!). The music is an equally important component of a radio play as well as script, cast, etc. Since it is intended to illustrate moods, stress, sadness, etc., it is important that appropriate music is used. This is unfortunately not the case. Although the music is, as already mentioned, well, but mostly does not match the mood or the setting of the radio play. Imagine the Scottish Highlands. And what you hear there automatically? Bagpipe sounds. And what you hear in the radio play? Recorder. That may work in a few scenes of this radio play, but in the Most data it reduces the bulk of the atmosphere away. That might be window dressing in your eyes, I for one think it but certainly relevant to the listening experience.
On the cover layout one has by now accustomed, of course, it is similar to the maritime radio plays. On the cover of the titular magician is displayed. How do I find that illustration of taking place in the radio play scene fit for radio play.
Conclusion: Christian Rode and Peter Groeger harmonize as ever - it's a real pleasure to listen to. Except for a single detail the radio play a dignified Another Sherlock Holmes is a radio play: the music. Because here everything else fits really well, the radio play loads due to the amusing story a for repeated listening. I very much hope that Bodo Traber will write another story for this team / allowed. Out tip!
