A disadvantage compared to other devices to enter addresses. As a frequent traveler looking for addresses in Hamburg, it always generates a small growl at me if I have to enter at least "Hambur" every time before the machine is indicating to me the desired city. The other manufacturers have better solved.
You can circumvent the Getippe but with the voice function. This works really well right away. Of course, the noise should not be too loud, but normal flight noise not a problem and all the essential menu items are selectable.
The price is steep but you get for a well-made device in a metal frame and glass display, which actually no longer problems with sunlight prepares as one made of plastic, but the image is sharper. The magnetic mount is strong and you can unplug the device without wires and tuck with a handle.
On the positive side for me is that I can continue to use the suction cup from the old device, as I occasionally use the unit in another vehicle.
Also easily worked transmitting the favorites from the old device. For that I had to install it on my PC, but anyway it is necessary for the registration and the loading of the software updates Garmin Express.
Incidentally necessarily remember to register you in time for you to obtain the benefit of free map updates. If you enjoy it, even found a few funny vehicles (Homers or Marchs car or the Wallace and Gromit but these are just examples of many others) or more voices (which I however not installed because I drive anyway without voice announcement ). These small features are the way free.
What else? Oh, and how to navigate the device for? Unfortunately I have no comparisons to other devices but the route is broadly logical and well. The display is clear. At intersections, the new Garmin now shows even better on which lane you should be classified, thinking ahead. That is, in multilane Abbie well as recommending here already the right track, if it is important for the next intersection.
Since I usually let my route from home to my work (across Hamburg) and Return, I've sometimes wonder about the proposals and decide then but different. I suspect it is because a Navi do not know when calculating the fastest route, which route good traffic light guides with green waves has (yes, in Hamburg, there are actually during rush hour so little) and where you have virtually stop at every traffic light. Since the device (as already the Garmin previously) always would like to guide me through Hamburg's most chaotic intersection, I have found the function, how to avoid an area. That was a bit fiddly but it works fine now.
The satellite will detect the device much faster than my old one. Back out of the garage, it is almost instantly reconnected.
In the parking garage, it was recently even in contact, which may also be the fact that I have connected the supplied wire antenna. I did that because I use the + Verkehrsinformationsdienest via DAB. My impression after less than two weeks is positive. Congestion in Hamburg are the known device and it tries all possible to offer me a better option. Whether Garmin can hold the comparison with TomTom, I can not judge. But I look at before driving on a regular basis the situation on the roads on the homepage of TomTom and I mean, my Garmin is not as bad informed. But I think I must still watch for a while longer in order to make a final judgment about it can.
Conclusion: if you like to spend so much, gets a quality device with extensive maps and free updates (timely registration required!).
The voice control works very well, the menus are easy to use, only when entering addresses more support would be nice.
Good traffic management, clear picture, fast satellite connection, good visual prompts (I turn the Navi always silent).
Traffic information via DAB + seem useful.
Switching from old Garmin devices can transmit their favorites and use their suction cup holder on.

Addendum: I complained in my review about the fact that you have to enter the always complete addresses with street and house number, if you just want to go once in a city. That's not true, because in fact there is the destination input with city names. Progress vs.. my old Garmin.
