After last several jazzy cover albums they now presents with her tenth, her birthday album for the first time an entire album with self bedichteten Taken compositions before. They are, however, only partially jazzy and not as spartan orchestrated mostly celebrated in Jazz. They trumped largely with popnahen, a hair's breadth on Pompous past slithering orchestral arrangements on -. Like only eg in the opener, which offers the best James Bond style, which involuntarily reminds me of a mix of glamorous Shirley Bassey and Michael Bublé's hit song It's Time. Ever affects the whole album as for large, nostalgic flavored 60s cinema created. This may be because so few sidelong glances Henderson sketched on their own story with ups and depth, love, crises and doubts and staged what is probably certainly legitimate for this special birthday. "Staged" is to be taken quite literally, because there's probably even a stage show with dancing to what one can vividly imagine. Please keep that in mind when listening to, otherwise the theatrics can possibly get out of hand.
The messy multicultural sounding song From Stockholm to New York, from Paris to Copenhagen is the most obvious, most striking example of their life between Europe and America and, with the red Dalahäst under his arm, to the Swedish roots referring. Like you in Germany with the latter combines Nordic melancholy that 'fits so well with the blue-Coolen of jazz. The shimmers however highest in gently worn strings Trilingual Lovesong by where it changes between fluent English, Swedish and Danish.
There are other nice ideas:
- Accompanied by the ukulele and glockenspiel relaxed Calamity Lane,
- The symbolic-to-understand Gone Fishin`, the openable shines at the end,
- That, with sweet and painful waltz turning to the strange fantastic atmosphere of a Cirque de Soleil reminiscent The World Goes Around
- The I Am She, in which they themselves reflected in others.
Corruptible takes the Bond-Feeling on again while Time Is Forever Young is a furious, again back-sighted as all summary finals. In both songs contrasting beautifully with the driving rhythm of the melody stretched full voice. Btw .: In some songs will be much tumbled - maybe she understands as a tribute to her father, an American jazz drummer, they saw very little and whose death they hurt anyway.
From my perspective: Caroline Henderson has its "Graduate" ladylike passed, although the mainstream-oriented music not likely to please any jazz fan.
