After single "Bleeding Love", which can provide a minimum electric base next to a boring chord sequence at least, there are plenty of long forgotten nineties Plush ballads in which she pretty much mimics every great Diva:
"Take A Bow" is pure Celine in "Homeless" they are the Mariah included singsong Schlenker, and "Yesterday" is reminiscent of Beyonce. In all the songs you can tell the difference between a good and a great voice: The artist may sound interchangeable with every note.
Lyrically they served the usual templates of love, sorrow, faith and hope.
Even the production seems a little hesitant, where the journey should go. The album oscillates between soft cuddly sound and hints of wiry Eletrosound ("Angel") or severe hip Hopbeats ("I'm You"), without taking the trouble to give the artist a unique sound.
The fact remains: Casting Stars are products that should appeal to a wide audience conceivable, as long as the star of success does not sink. But do not be too hasty: this lady has talent and charisma - maybe it breaks through the scheme and making good music. Until then, this album remains weak a promise ...
