Otherwise, what can you say? After I recorded this video, I came to the conclusion, but only 4 instead of 5 stars to forgive. The game has a lot of potential and it makes me still fun, the graphics are in my opinion great and to be running well all around, but the possibilities are still exploited only moderately and a real racing simulation feeling does not come through because of the very sparse menu properties.
The controller is okay, is accelerated with A or R, braked / driven in reverse with B or L, steered with the Circle Pad or the directional pad. The only other key assignment is the camera angle on directional pad up to provide optional wide and close to the car and bumper. The navigation menu can be done via the buttons or the touch panel. For the rewind function (in fast races unavailable) find a button on the touch screen and allows you to make up to 5 seconds undone.
The introduction to the game is done unspectacular; a loading screen and immediately appears the choice of season, Super Special Stages and Quick Race. Irritating here is that the "quick race" can only be driven on routes that have been moved clear already in season mode. This also ends any benefits of this feature, because whether one chooses a car and a race in the season or in the Quick Race mode takes time absolutely nothing. The only difference in the fast race there as I said no rewind button and no Race Points collected (by time advantage, drifts or leaps) with which you can buy afterwards driver and Super Special Stages or repair his car.
The regular races are always, Rally-typical, point-to-point race against the clock and the best times of other drivers. The Super Special Stages (as mentioned, they must be unlocked with Race Points - each 5000 points per track, 6 of which there are a total) are circular routes on which you compete against another car on a parallel track.
The sound in the game is okay, but does not give a sense of reality, the only music in the game is the techno Gedüdel at the beginning, which can be heard in the menu, but will disappear after a 2-minute run and does not contain any loop function - it follows silence.
The 3D effect is of course not necessary, but makes itself quite well, I think, if you play at a place where you can hold the device steady; Bus tours are not suitable here.
The control is easy when you just kind of want to get to the end. If you want to work a little more efficiently, you should take the time to tease out the maximum. For me personally it does not appear so that the steering with the Circle Pad could deliver what it promises, namely precise steering commands continuously. I remained rather the impression that from a slight steering movement of the full stop of the steering is present and the truck just runs off the side indignantly. For this reason I switched to the steering with the directional pad and tap lightly to make minor steering and hold down if there are sharper turns. The brake is of course be treated with caution, also because there is no different button for regular brake and handbrake. Because of the underground gravel / Ice course is also offered at the same caution to steer and brake. To use one drift or at least a halfway einlenkendes but skidding, the brake offers in any case. But when it comes to speed reduction should it a try with the "gas off" try method and let the car roll out from the specified braking point in the racing line - the effect is usually greater, and the car remains controllable.
Ideal line, another keyword. Nice that one exists, however ugly that you can not turn off. Equally unattractive that the route notes of the "passenger" only as an overlay on top of the screen and do not take place, such as, hip in other games. In addition, the information from track to track, intensive curve 3 can be a 90 ° bend on one track at the next full throttle curve differ. Also annoying is that the announcements only appear on some routes when you are already on the braking point and actually only can hope, somehow not to pop in the band or to fly off the track.
From the cross-country flying, the next point: the automatic set-up function - thus reverting back to the road when you're off the track - is good, but it takes often much too early. I'd already want some more realism and the possibility or even the compulsion that I do when I've driven me to the pampas, me as well himself again must out maneuver - what else is there to reverse? In some places you go far off the track, something happened to, on the other one is just having felt two tires from the track (which is actually the normal state is in Rally Sport) and already you will be reorganized.
The standard car - the only one that is available for game entry - is quite good. Somewhat sluggish in the directions, speed limit is 127 km / h but to get otherwise with practice under control. Only towards the end I had to think about the purchase of another car, because I simply did not have the speed to stay on the leading tuned. For Race Points 5000-8000 you can unlock additional vehicles or drivers with cars that have more bang, if only the higher acceleration and top speed of 140 km / h make a lot of, but the handling is of course again very getting used to - a fast car and flies faster.
Damage model is also available and at some point the player depends half the truck to shreds. Is supposed to happen, but it is bearable. However, which also acts slightly on the handling characteristics and from "semi-broken" starts the car to get a side spin and the damage bar completely empty, so the car really totally over, this is indeed to dominate, but very strong - strange is that he may be on the next line sometimes arbitrary in the other direction. Is the car totally demolished happened exactly nothing. It does not stay, you will not be disqualified, it just looks stupid and is bearable prejudicial, that's it. A complete repair costs 500 Race Points. In itself, this is all somehow bearable and can be from time to time fix, but I realized that I had probably often repaired the one time or another, because at the Super Special Stages turn my rounds after the season I had to go several times already geschaffte season routes in order to have the "wherewithal" available. 5000 points together, spent on a stage, driven, gained back 20-minute drive season.
End of the season, yes, that was the point where I really sobered and pull off a star had. Clear I've mentioned many not so great points, but all were bearable and the game tied me on. But then, the second race in Great Britain ended, reached full season score, the game manages just to save even more and then ...
Black screen. Home menu with the message that the software has been terminated due to an error, and the device is restarted. Nothing. No staff, no Abschpann, no podium ceremony, nothing. Another attempt, same result (even that is on YouTube in another video documents).
At such a point is evaluated differently, new and all previously existing grievances come from "well care" to "well, also because they have not worked well enough", so my fun is the game that is powdered with disillusionment and there remain a total (only) 4 star left. Even that is still a pretty good review, I find, but 5 it's really not worth it. Especially at the price of presently 40, because it is true that the official FIA license has been purchased, but without love in the cutscenes, it still remains.
The fact is, at WRC for the 3DS much potential has been wasted, StreetPass will in no way support (exchange of data for the Super Special Stages would have been possible) and not even a multiplayer mode is present. The menu is love affairs, unimaginative and for individual configurations not in the least space - it shines the game with a matching 3D effect, a not inconsiderable number of different routes with pleasant graphics and environment details and also to match the sound, even though he no perfect is. Precision is a foreign word (at least, if one "full" as a benchmark Driving more powerful consoles attaches), but you can come to terms with the control at some point and dealing with this game, the embarrassing frustration of "Asphalt 3D" what nunmal only 10 is to find good to 15.
Buy recommendation yes, but a more sensible price should be the basis. I would buy it again and recommend if you're looking for a "real" racing game for the 3DS.
