The device is absolutely top. Bought with DOS, Linux Mint 14 install 64 bit. -> No network connection via cable or Wi-Fi. Reason: at LxMint and not Ubuntu by default provided driver. Remedy: USB WLAN stick used for temporary NW connection (eg TP-Link) -> was immediately recognized. 1. internal WLAN enabled: Menu -> System Administration -> Software Management window opens Edit -> Software Sources -> tab: - Select> using Broadcom 802.11 Linux drivers .... Additional Drivers (Only works if the Internet connection through the USB WLAN stick or other method is) -> Apply Changes Press -> WLAN logs; USB WLAN stick can be removed now 2. The drivers for the Ethernet adapter (LAN cable) must be installed. Good work has the following description: [...] $ Sudo apt-get install build-essential linux-headers-generic linux-headers-`uname -r` If not all the packages have been loaded (error message): $ sudo apt-get update # possibly repeated several times $ Wget -O [...] $ Cd compat-wireless-2012-07-03-pc $ ./scripts/driver-select Alx $ Make $ Sudo make install $ Sudo modprobe alx
For these efforts and lack of support from Lenovo there are 2 star deduction. (About 8 hours research and Taste)
Because the notebook but a so extremely good impression makes again a star to: + Extremely quiet + Mpeg4 movies run smoothly + Camera goes + Good keyboard + Good display (although glossy) + Sound very clear, however, weak bass (but this is acceptable) + Very good value for money + Linux Mint 14 - 64Bit running very fast and pleasant + Good touchpad - not as good as with Macs but better than many other o soft surface; nice, pleasant, but wants to be cleaned occasionally.
There seems to be at the LAN and WLAN, where Linux can be installed without any further problems other models with other chipsets.
