Listen to music unsuitable

I want to leave you my experience about this soundcard partaking.
Zuerstmal I use for years a Logitech Z5500 5.1 system in combination with an external sound card from Creative X-Fi.
I use this combination both for watching movies in Dolby Digital via the SPDIF output on the sound card, alsauch for music playback, also via the digital output of the sound card.
Now this sound card is no longer functioning and I looked around for a new one.

For ASUS Xonar U7 External 7.1 Sound Card:
I have also connected these Sondkarte to the same sound system via the digital output. 5.1 sound works and it is even possible via drivers each box to make louder or quieter. However, especially when playing music to perceive a significant deterioration in the heights. There is a lack of dynamism and especially in polyphonic acoustic songs of precision. The same applies to bass heavy songs, here the low frequencies are indeed represented, but simply their lack of pressure. Under these restrictions, any emotional part z. B. a ballad into a joke. I've tried various settings, but there was none that approached the quality of the old soundcard. I am of course aware that a 5.1 system is not suitable for listening to music, I soon will also change, however, the sound card is thus no better.
Music is a very subjective feeling, but I can assure all who are accustomed to the sound quality of the old Creativ soundcards only advise against the purchase of this sound card, because you will be disappointed.
This recession is of course only for the digital outputs of the sound card.
