Lots of glamor, little substance

The new album of the killer ... Well, how do you describe it?
A mix of pop rock with little incredible amount of kitsch and sometimes despite all good songwriting with a pinch of self-irony but mind too much seriousness, too little ruckus, too much pathos and unfortunately ... unfortunately ... of for a small drop of the barrel overcrowded brought.

I must confess that I am the single "Human" after some initial hesitation at some point had yet. With your pop sound and its incredibly catchy melody. Now after I had also read a reviews, me the new album but doing very, very curious. Unfortunately, I was still disappointed. The songs are catchy, but the band is hailed as the new "Rock Sensation" / was, lacks one thing: the ROCK! Where is the way? Has anyone seen him? Seriously ... I find him in the 11 songs from Day & Age not a single time. And if you close of the few guitar riffs that one hears through the overproduced Schmachtwerk on rock, must be described as rock also an album of Take That or even Hupfdohle MIKA.
Pity! It is precisely for your catchy riffs admired you the Killers gladly and often.
An absolute no-go on the new Killers album is the saublöde saxophone that many a good song but pulls back in the disco 80's Porn Background Dudelei from which he was trying to ascend. For this 1.5 star deduction. Because that sucks enormous and should have been avoided. Because the last thing we want is a revival of the 80-trumpet saxophone. The rest of the album sinks unfortunately among the high expectations. For the remaining 0.5 stars. Sure ... the Killers have reinvented itself and also bring often like new sounds. That's good, do not get me wrong! This is even in between VERY GOOD! But on the whole, the album is clearly the weakest album of the Killers. Even weaker than Sam's Town. And strangely enough, this was still torn apart by the press. But apparently meet the Killers now the spirit of the mid-40's music editors. Because otherwise I can not imagine this hype.
