As already seen the price of the charger can (without batteries approx 6 - 7), is here to simple charging technology. There is no problem at all if battery with a low charging current (about 1/10 of the battery capacity) will be loaded and carried out the shutdown timed (here after 16 hours). On a final discharge voltage (approximately 0.9 volts) emptied battery cell requires at 1/10 charge current approximately 14 hours to a "full" charge (a factor of 1.4 of the supplied quantity of charge).
At such low charge currents is a "overcharging" no problem at all, the excess energy is converted into heat and the batteries are only "lukewarm". This Charger is also very easy on the battery and gives a higher "life expectancy".
The current spread alarmist here, with overcharge would be causing fire or even "Explosive" is pure nonsense (assuming proper use!) - Otherwise likely this charger not be sold - see safety signs on the bottom of the charger!
Who is, however, prepared for the Eneloop set of 4 incl. (Quick) charger (MQR06) over 30 spend, getting modern (fast) charging technology with delta V disconnection.
So why "rip" totally inadequate in many reviews a simple charger, although it is 100% the job done !? The shop just takes a little longer, but the acquisition is low - and the battery is treated gently.
