Compared to a conventional steam iron, which we have so far only used in our household, this Philips Dampfbügelstation a real advancement in terms of handling and quality. While the temperature must be adapted to the laundry to be ironed at the normal steam iron, the steam iron only requires a only setting for all wash places. Since the steam generator iron irons clothes by a huge amount of hot water vapor, burning of the laundry is excluded. In contrast to the normal steam iron the GC9540 / 02 operates almost silently - since the manufacturer has no means promised too much.
The Philips GC9540 / 02 is generally suitable for filling with normal tap water, but the manufacturer recommends a Wassermix of distilled water and tap water each pay half. This causes the device to be less frequently decalcified and the nozzles of the iron set is not as fast with lime to. Due to the large water tank the ironing system requires quite a lot of space and is completely filled state also quite heavy. We therefore ask the station just on the work surface in the kitchen and so have all the facilities available. The hose length of 1.70 m is it perfectly adequate, while the power cord with 1.8m could be a little longer still.
The steam generator iron is ready for use after a little more than two minutes and by the large water tank, they must not be refilled quickly. These features and quality is not to get a bargain price, but this is absolutely justified in my eyes.
