TomTom GO 6000 Europe navigation system (15 cm (6 inches) touch screen, 8GB of internal memory, QuickGPSfix, TomTom Lifetime Traffic & Maps) (Electronics)

Customer Review

I am for years a TomTom fan. So far TomTom has well thought-out, specifically designed for the needs of motorists. Not so good design, but in the function a lot better than the competition.
This device is exactly the opposite.
It is chic, like a modern 6 "tablet. As a tablet, it would make sure good. In the car, however, there are other requirements.

Although the mirror display may look smart, but very often leads to the fact that you can see nothing more than the driver. Depending on whether there is just a light or dark background.

The writing on the new 6 "TomTom is extremely tiny. As mobile font size would be ok, since you hold it in your hand. However, my navigator mounted on the windshield away a little further and do not get me the attention. In order the information almost incidentally capture the font is much too tiny.

In numbers: The writing is only 3mm high! To comparison, on my 4 "TomTom Navi she was still 5mm high. The surface of the writing is thus less than half as large compared to the small 4" variant! What for the giant screen?
By the way you can see the font in any case no longer read!

Add to that that street names are often shown with white text on a light gray background .. The contrast is already on the sofa a disgrace, in daylight in the car you have no chance. Darkens at least among the TomTom navigation instructions the background somewhat, so you have a chance to recognize the font.

The map material is reportedly currently in the 2013. I can not believe. Road changes that have existed for more than 3 years are not included. This makes the Navi leads me often unnecessary detours. This refers to Berlin and can be quite different in other cities of course.

The storage and site information not exactly thrill me. Construction sites in Berlin that have full closures result for several weeks, the Navi are unknown. Too Bad. But TMC and other storage-release systems are no better. The TomTom Traffic system is one of the best. But you should not expect miracles. I admit, I have something more comprehensive traffic information expected. Sometimes I surprise the Navi but also positively by finding ways with incredibly good traffic light phases.

Possible settings are in short supply in the model. You can hardly adapt a little to his needs and preferences. A AB route calculation is no longer possible. I understand the trend to make devices as simple as possible to use and to reduce the setting. But an expert mode, which conjures up the settings again would do the device really good.

The 3D building view is certainly a matter of taste. I find them beautiful, but it distracts me from useless actual routing from. A nice touch I think it's when houses are marked on the road in the middle and then you shall pass through the house. Here agree, the cards probably not quite.

+ Stylish design
+ Good magnetic holder
+ Fast GPS
- Writing too tiny. Only half the size of 4 "Navi!
- Representation Although chic but not motorists Suitable
Unsuitable mirror display for car -
- Hardly settings
- Maps out of date and incorrect
o traffic information much better than TMC but not really good

Conclusion:
====
An extremely chic device with powerful hardware. Unfortunately, the TomTom Go6000 no longer considered but the demands on a Navi for motorists. Design top, function rather flop. From my perspective, TomTom has missed the real goal with this Navi.
