I bought this station at amazon on July 6 2013. Previously, I have researched as an idiot because I had no desire to Meiern me. Since I am a man wants to iron my stuff myself (my wife, the course, but I've been my time at the BW strap my stuff themselves), had to be a male station, with plenty of power. Compromises were out of the question for me. The price was first entirely secondary.
What criteria must meet the station for me?
- Good workmanship and quality
- Large water tank for proper reserve in use
- Short charging time until operational readiness
- Lasting steam without reloading between
- At least 6 bar pressure, so that the steam does not stretch the arms halfway
- Braided steam line for adequate security
- An actually functioning Kalkwarnung and cleaning function
- Automatic shutdown after about 10 minutes of inactivity
- Scratch-resistant and smooth-ironing surface
After 20 months of use I can testify the following:
The device is handled properly. No cheap plastic, all burred clean, no cracks or leaks, no material fatigue.
The water tank holds 1.8 liters by long. We are a 4-person household (2 adults, children) and iron at least every other day 1-2 baskets. The station heats up within about 2 minutes and is ready for operation.
The steam comes from the beginning until the last drop in the tank at full power and the almost continuous. From time to time I had to pause for a moment so that the steam can recharge, but is rarely the case and only then, if you really are all :-)
The vapor pressure is absolutely male. Al Bundy would be thrilled. I wonder today, as I get used to anything at all ironed without steam. The extra powerful shot of steam we use very rarely. Actually, almost not at all. But the skin neatly out steam. Just be aware this also where your hands are. The steam is brutally hot.
The feel is impeccable. The iron is great in the hand. It can be parked perpendicular to the station level or even on the board. The operation is very easy. As usual, there is the iron settings for the heat of the iron and the material to be ironed. The slider works clean and engages well. At the station you can regulate the amount of steam. We always work in Eco mode, which is sufficient. The station tells you when the appliance needs descaling. This requires that the machine and cooled !!! Is also logical, after all, one wants to not burn the paws. It then turns right on the device, the safety cap, then rotate the Entkalkerstab out and cleans it. I always put this one a bath of hot water and descaling (DM yellow flat bottle). I do this once a year with the iron itself, in order to free the ironing surface of lime. We have here in the Taunus very lime-rich water). For this I put the ironing surface in a large casserole dish ceramic and pour hot water there pure - so that the iron completely and just deep enough is in the water without wetting the plastic over it. Then I give to a half bottle of the DM descaler. I'll do that in the morning. I come home after work, the iron is 1A-clean.
The unit switches itself off after a few minutes of inactivity. Signals which is a red flashing LED. I habs not stopped sometime between 5 and 10 minutes. If you want to iron again, just press the reset button below the LED and wait 2 minutes. Then the device is ready for operation. Very good feature that prevents you abfackelt the booth.
So, anything else? Hm .... oh the price. I paid in July 2013 299 Euro. This time it was worth it to me. Anyone who considers today that the unit will have its demands and thinks about the price, I can say: I think the thing so horny, I would buy for 189 euros directly two stops and one of my mother give :-) The price is awesome!
