I wanted a new TV - he had to be naturally bigger than the old one, 3D needs with and the new Smart TV would be nice too.
So I after a lot of thinking for the Philips 4508. The offer looks really attractive, for a very good price at first glance.
What I have alongside some of the TV?
My main applications are streaming media (DLNA, online streaming), random look of the standard channels (Pro7, ZDF and co ...) and video games (Xbox, PS3)
I'll be my first point mentioned the streaming ... that I immediately tested on the day of purchase. I have the app Watch Ever loaded me on the TV and the same time launched a movie. After about 5 minutes of the movie night by noise, artifacts and disturbed by Tonasync was ... after about 15 minutes of television simply reboots and you have to reboot the movie;) course from the beginning and everything starts all over again.
Due to this problem, I have been looking for a solution in the Support Forum Philips. There is really already some threads describing this problem. However, only from the user side, a solution or at least a description / acknowledgment on the part of the support you will not find here. Somehow the problem is ignored for several months.
Anyway ... "Standard TV"
Yes it works ... you should expect from a TV, the TV can be. However, it is also important as it works to the present day. How smoothly the software works behind? What is the look and feel?
Well, switching the transmitter lasted longer than average. But I can live with. The worse is more the software to sort his favorites. The software handles just not as you would expect. The functions are hidden on confusing buttons on the remote control ... you just get out by studying the manual.
To my third point, the video games.
Here no abnormalities are struck me, the image of the TV's ansich very good. Simply the source to HDMI1 / 2/3 and losgespielt.
Oh ... the sound. Yes, the sound of the TV is dam .... but does not matter anyway, I use an additional facility.
But now comes the big BUT. You can still infect a system to the TV via jack, but you can not adjust the volume control on the remote control. The internal sound of the television remains still active, even though the pawl is inserted. This means you can only regulate the internal sound. So I have to constantly get up and adjust the knob on my system manually.
From the LED technology has struck me, which is here used Edge LED. Although this is not as good as Direct LED but still okay! Is also typical of so thin housings.
