I was always of the opinion that Rob would be without Guy Chambers to be able to write a really catchy song. But so slowly creeps me the feeling that with Guy and the piece soul / emotion is gone, which at that time made such great songs. I expect no other Escapology and certainly no second Sing When You're Winning, but at least something what drags me. An album that can bring me to dance, cry, dream. At least, not starts slightly annoying after the 5th cycle.
Stylistically Take The Crown reminds me a little of Intensive Care. Only it is not so successful. It is harmonious in its own way, but places very inconsequential and elsewhere even slightly annoying. Especially All That I Want stirred vigorously the aforementioned keyboard electric metal drum, which personally do not particularly like it and results that I have this song to date constantly skipped. Hunting For You also suffers from the synthetic sounds, although the song was actually not bad overall.
I like so far reverse, Into The Silence and Different still best. Said Robbie at Into The Silence towards the end rather than shouting. Something you actually used less of him. Shit On The Radio steals so bold in Video Killed The Radio Star that it brings an almost laugh. To have some of the songs that something reminiscent of the "old Robbie," seems to somehow heard before (keyword Intensive Care). Yet they do not manage to revive the old emotions.
I hang still to this musician, because he has given us so grandiose songs like Feel, Angels, Better Man, Ghosts, A Place To Crash, Hot Fudge etc given and given me some of the best concerts I have ever been on. Nevertheless prevails more and more disappointment. She began with Rudebox and adheres since steadily and although I myself ... have not found songs on Rudebox and Reality on which I liked very much. I will not give up hope yet. Rudebox and Reality ... I think the incredible utopian record deal back then were owed. Robbie just had the appropriate number of albums throw to the market in order to fulfill the contract. Whether we like it now or not, is sometimes debatable. What we now have left? Let's hope that at some point he refers to his roots and wakes smog from LA, where he seems to sink.
EDIT: After a few more times I have heard up and down the album now, I have to say that it is better like it gradually. As Robbie said once so beautiful: "Honestly, it's a grower." Apparently is also true, to Take The Crown. Nevertheless, it remains at the 3 stars because of his old albums, it is sufficient with absolute certainty not ran and so will not flourish so well my fan heart.
