Mediocre lens with moderate sharpness

Have the Sigma 17-70 700 tested because of the interesting focal length range of the Sony Alpha and returned there again. Focal length is good, but the pictures do not sharper than my Canon Digital Ixus 8 megapixel camera 08/15 - and that you can clearly see when enlarging the images on the monitor. In addition, I recommend rather a stronger light lens to access because you have more reserves before the camera in the true sense of the word "the lights go out."

As fair-weather lens for less quality-conscious casual photographer perhaps appropriate, but for a price around / about 300 euros you can expect more - particularly more sharpness and better resolution in detail.

Mechanical and of the haptic was the objective OK - compared to the Sigma 2.8 fixed focal length 50mm visible poorer picture quality - and such a significant difference in quality I did not expect.

I can recommend so for those interested, the Sigma 50mm 2.8 EX DG Macro lens, even if there are better mechanically (the cost but mostly the 3 to 4 times) - but the sharpness and colors are good - and at a very attractive price!
