memories of a time

In the 60s in Auvergne. The father works nights at Michelin. His wife is "at home"; his mother who loses his head a little also lives at home. One son went to Algeria, the other, much younger, spends his days in the novels, notably The Conquering Power. A story on the 60 after the 2nd World War, and that is already in another; it is the technical progress happens. But the father feels in abroad, as he finally feels foreign to this family.
A pleasant book to read, which traces a time well. But the last chapter, which is a new separate supposed to happen 50 years later (even if Gilles, the protagonist, philosophy teacher, is very similar to Gilles youngest of the novel) does nothing at all and should not join.
