It's my first MFT system, so I can not compare with other MFT cameras. Previously I had the Canon 5DMII and for about six months, the Canon 6D, so both full format. However, I wanted a smaller camera that is still a very mobile equipment with 3 lenses. Since I was used to full-frame, I thought first of the Sony A7 as an alternative. Due to the (at least then) small lens offer the A7 I had a look at other formats, and came across the GX7. I think the difference between MFT and APS-C is less than between APS-C and full frame. Compromises you have to do, of course, at the depth of field and at the lower possibility in the wide-angle range. But that is known and constructional reasons. With regard to the image noise of the image sensor is (subjectively, did not make any analysis photos) as well as the Canon 5DMII. Newer full-format cameras may be better. For me, however, this is sufficient.
The benefits that I see in the MFT system and the GX7 specifically:
+ Very flexible equipment. Just need a very small camera bag.
+ Internal image stabilizer. Olympus has a better, 5-axis. I've had enough of the GX7.
+ Operation / menu is logically structured, purposeful and (partly) can be adjusted individually.
+ ISO vehalten absolutely ok for me at low Lieght.
+ Workmanship is very good. The GX7 is solid. Unfortunately, the upper parts made of plastic and not also made of metal
+ Low weight, also compared with Olympus
+ Colors in JPEG are neutral and not overdone. In my opinion a typical property with Panasonic, is also known by the Panasonic TVs.
+ The feel is very good. I feel the haptic (wrt. The shape, not the material) better than the Olympus EM. 5
Neutral:
# WiFi I can not comment because I do not use it.
Negatives:
- Unfortunately, no splash protection. Had the camera made last year in Hawaii and pictures only a few cm above the Wasseröfläche. By an underrated wave popped the camera for a short time to about half a. Then a short extension of the battery and wipe the wet spots and I continued photographing. Still, I thought to myself then: Too bad that the GX7 has no splash protection.
Conclusion:
I'm pretty excited about MFT and the GX7 in particular. Even after one year. The size and power are ideal for people who want to carry on vacation all options (fixed focal length lenses for image quality and 3 of them for all situations) in a low weight with it.
Have the camera is silver. However, I would order it now in black. Is subtle and less "hipster".
