"Tartuffe" is a room where violence is transcended by the laughter of the soul. Molière is not playing in the register of [[ASIN: B0014RP69I Scapin]], the Comedia del Arte; not it aims to unmask the hypocrisy that takes power over the minds, the souls of the most dangerous ways, using the sacred through religion, false devotees.
His play aroused much violent reaction on the part of hypocrites. If not for the support of King Louis XIV, she was censored and probably Molière could he feared for his life.
In August 1664, Molière presented his first petition to the king:
"On the comedy of Tartuffe, which had not yet been shown to the public
Sire,
The duty of comedy is to correct men entertaining them, I thought, in employment where I am, I had nothing better to do than attack by ridiculous vices of my paintings century; and as hypocrisy, no doubt, is one of more use, more inconvenient and dangerous, I had, sir, that I thought rendais no small service to all the people in your honest kingdom, if I made a comedy that décriât hypocrites, and would put in order, as it should, all the faces studied these good people to the death, all covered knaveries these counterfeiters in devotion, who want to catch men with a sophisticated counterfeit zeal and charity.
I did it, Sire, this comedy, with all the care, as I think, and all the circumspection that could ask the delicacy of the matter; and to better preserve the esteem and respect due to true devotees, I have distinguished as I could the character I had to touch. I have not left the ambiguity, I have removed that could confuse the good with the bad, and have used it in this painting that express colors and essential features that make first acknowledge a genuine and frank hypocrite. Molière is an inspiration for the citizen fight. The fine writing, chiselled, subtly enhances sensory perception.
