Customer Review

I come from a Samsung 27-inch 1080p 120Hz TN to glossy.
I wanted a less rude and made a brilliant IPS panel, for having matt tiles in the past, I could not stand it that made granular always gave me the impression of having a screen not very clean, mainly white.

Unfortunately it is very difficult, if not impossible today to find a glossy panel. After reading a lot of reviews of US and French forums, it appears that the matte coating of this LG is very light, and I confirm it, so here I am reconciled to the matt tiles.

No monitor really tempted me, we get to make beautiful TVs, but PC screen side is generally quite ugly. The LG has the advantage of being aesthetically beautiful while having a significant size with a good record. I hesitated with curved model which I find very successful but I was afraid of the curved side to everyday use and it is still 200 more expensive, so I naturally opted for this model not curved I do not regret.

Everyone is unanimous on the rendering quality of this LG. Only problem many people are affected by problems of light leakage. Compared to what I've seen and read, I can say that I am lucky, I actually a leak in the lower right corner that turns slightly yellow but overall the rest of the panel is satisfactory, then it is not seen with a picture so I will not tempt the devil to exchange it.

My opinion hot after several hours of use, the screen itself brings an undeniable comfort, there is a lot of space, is very immersive 21/9 in movies and even games. The colors are natural, I actually a little trouble getting used to it because I had a very good on my Samsung TN panel which brought a record very flattering to the eye as I can not find this LG . I lost a flattering image at the expense of a more natural picture where every detail is seen.

I am generally satisfied, however I have a problem with Asus GTX 980 Strix indeed the screen remains black-start DisplayPort and illuminates only when the OS is loaded. So can not I access the bios. What is still painful, but hey I lean more to a problem on the side of bios of the graphic card (However, LG could integrate a DVI port ...), hoping for an update soon.

EDIT: After a day of use, I will unfortunately have to ask an exchange, my copy has a light leakage in the proper sense of the term, between the hull and the slab (A hole in the seam) and in this same area on the screen this time I have a dead pixel. Not disappointed of the screen itself, but I am for this kind of fault that should not exist on today especially LCD 800.

I take this supplement edition on the problem mentioned above at the DisplayPort. After much research, it turns out that all forums are full of complaints is a concern own new Nvidia cards. An update to the bios of the graphics card will be very necessary to remedy the problem if like me you can not have a DisplayPort signal outside of Windows and the latest 344.80 drivers. So caution if you have to date a GTX 980.

EDIT 2: After receiving my second copy, it seems not to have dead pixels or light leakage outside, however the slab has nothing to do with the first that I have received, I have three corners affected by huge light leakage that spoils all pleasure on dark images. Although the screen is great, it seems that it is the lottery to get a flawless model.

EDIT 3: I received a third copy there almost a week (Model made in November 2014), since its receipt I am generally satisfied with the slab even if it is not perfect, it is already much more acceptable the second received. By cons unfortunately I will have to return again to a new problem which I knew absolutely no existence. Simply put the last received makes a cracking, a sort of click every x minutes / seconds left side for about 1 hour, 10 minutes after ignition. I tried everything, mute the speakers of the monitor, turn off the DisplayPort 1.2 as some suggested, but nothing works.

I found some similar cases, I invite you to type in a search engine "LG 34UM95 popping noise" or "LG 34UM95 popping sound" if you want to know more about this problem.

To summarize, I received:

Monitor 1: Manufacturing defect with a hole in the seam passes light of the slab and a dead pixel.
Monitor 2: Enormous light leaks on three corners of the slab.
Monitor 3: Some light leaks on two corners, but it's acceptable and a cracking problem every x minutes / seconds.

I recommend this screen if you are looking for a 34 inch monitor 21/9 with a beautiful rendering, however I totally recommend if you rely on your luck to have a model without problem from the first installment.
