'The Dark Hills of Cherai' is a hidden object adventure, or rather, it would be one. Most hidden object adventure, it is so that the hidden objects are more or less embedded useful in a point'n'click adventure. In this game, on the other hand you have a series of objects in the picture that are laboriously connected by history and where the adventure portion acts, very grafted by the extremely simple puzzles whose solution reveals itself right in principle. The hidden objects are actually also very simple, the poor graphics it difficult but unnecessary: If you can not find an object, because it is practically invisible by the dark, low-contrast graphics and slurred, which is frustrating. It is also unpleasant that the game has no widescreen support. While you can rely on a rechargeable hint feature, but needs three minutes until they can be used again for a clue. Relaxed game looks different.
The brainteasers that genre typically loosen the game, once well known as disc rotating or number puzzles offer and are also extremely easy, can be necessary but after a short time skip, if you take a time penalty of 15 minutes to purchase (only important for the highscore list). The low level of difficulty ensures that you have played through the game in about two hours, which is very short even for a hidden object adventure.
It is unusual that you play three characters here, whose adventures may overlap and share the objects with each other and need. Unfortunately, the exchange system has been poorly implemented. Rather than simply being able to pass the object to the other figure, that only works when both are at a specific location and use the Tauschrad. This disrupts the flow of the game considerably, even if the fast travel feature prevents the map that you have to then walk back all the way to the current scene.
Thanks to the extremely low level of difficulty would be 'The Dark Hills of Cherai' for absolute beginners are, but for which there are better alternatives (such as 'Fairy Tale Mysteries: The puppeteers'), which provide a better adventure part and where you do not fails because of the bad graphics.
