Positives:
+ Sound quality is good. Have upon receipt "FullSound" asked and it is quite an improvement to Spark determine.
+ Bluetooth: This is of course a nice improvement and will work both with my Bluetooth headset, as well as with the Toyota Touch & Go in my car properly.
+ The operation is still easy and it's to mp3 files to transfer, no additional software is needed on the device (goes by copying and pasting in Windows Explorer). Incidentally, this is the only reason why I do not return the same part. If it were possible the half-eaten apple and so easy populate via copy and paste, I would immediately go to the.
Negatives:
- Slow: The operation, especially if you're going on Audible files bookmarked very slowly. Between pressing the "Play" button and an actual response of the unit to the input take up to 20 seconds. This sucks very.
- Registration with Audible worked only after several phone calls with both Audible and Philips. Although the Audible Manager reported a successful activation of the device, but the device itself refused to play the desired files.
The trick was in the end the folder "SERVICE" to delete the root directory. With a further activation through the AudibleManager this is then reapplied and it worked. Incidentally, this is a defect, which occurred apparently the "Vibe". Here Philips has probably taken a known bug from one generation to the next, instead of solving the problem.
- The blocking of the maximum volume annoying scary: If the device turns on prolonged non-use in standby or the unit is turned off, so do not be the volume last used the next time turning reused, but each time turned down automatically at level 10 , which is already very low. If average noise are present, you can not understand an audiobook. (Note: I had this year already the company doctor and have passed the hearing test So it is not because of hearing loss on my part.)
But particularly annoying, just that again can not make louder dan, but as soon as one wants to overcome stage 13 (30) is each time interrupted by a safety message on to loud music, you then have to confirm with "Yes" if you loud wants to turn. This message appears each time and can not even turn off and the threshold can not change over the settings.
- The aforementioned copy & paste does not work as easy as the Spark. Transferring the title in this way to the player, so it will not, as usual, played accordingly in alphabetical order or according to predefined numbering. Instead, the only criterion for the playing order of the copy date on the device. This means that if one transmits complete order via copy & paste on the machine, copies the title in a relatively random order and are reproduced in accordance with confusion. Completely useless, especially for audio books of course.
If one wants to have now playing in a defined sequence, you must first create a folder on the device and then transfer the files individually in the order you want on the device. This is very time consuming and far from user-friendly. A clear step backwards for much cheaper predecessor.
- Eyelet for attaching a neck strap or the like is absent. The previous model I could just hang via Strap Headphones around your neck, which I found very handy to me. Small hole for attaching such Straps is but apparently liked me an incomprehensible saving measure victim. Probably the manufacturer is here soon stoking related accessories, which you must then buy.
CONCLUSION: The Spark, there were 5 years ago with 4GB storage capacity for about 50. The Azure have to pay 100-150 with 8GB Memory (anno 2013 is not exactly abundant!) And it was much worse more than improved. I can not recommend buying this player. Too bad that there is no more to buy the Spark. I would like to return, not least because of the compact abbessungen.
