Hello!
Today I want you / you report adapter on my experiences with the Wicked Chili 5in1 OTG.
An OTG adapter serves the transmission of content of various storage media and the connection of multiple input devices to smartphones and tablets.
Therefore, OTG (OnTheGo) for "On the Road".
The idea is to connect certain devices such as SD cards, USB sticks, keyboards and mice directly to the terminal. For example, images have to be loaded from the camera not only to your computer before you access the Tablet Smartphone / but can be played directly on the memory card.
With USB OTG can connect eg USB sticks directly to a smartphone or tablet and thus significantly increase the available memory
Be labeled USB OTG products incidentally usually through the USB logo with an additional green arrow on the bottom and white on-the-go writing.
It comes with the adapter and a short manual in German.
Like most other OTG adapter features also the Wicked Chili 5in1 via a Micro-USB port, which is simply plugged into the appropriate port of the smartphone / tablet.
(This works the way also with USB 3.0 microUSB port as the Note 3. There, the port is divided into two parts, part of which is a normal Micro USB port).
At the "normal" USB-A port of the adapter can then connect as USB flash drives, keyboards, mice and game controllers.
There are also USB card reader can be connected, which I find very laudable, since eg also CF card can be read.
A micro SD card slot and an SD card slot are available, for example, to transfer images quickly from the camera or camcorder.
Furthermore, one still a microUSB port is used as input to the adapter.
This I find but already slightly pointlessly, because if I want to connect something on this port, I can indeed do the same at the terminal itself ...?
Also, I now do not know right away what you could connect as ever except another OTG adapter.
Damage not doing this connection but of course :-)
But what apparently does not work to load the terminal with adapter connected via those same microUSB port. That worked for me in any smartphone or tablet.
Apparently no charging electronics in Wicked Chili 5in1 is installed (as well as in all other known to me OTG adapter not).
- Update: According to Wicked Chili is as usual at OTG adapter no charging electronics installed.
Depending on your OS version and manufacturer of terminal or connection of devices over the OTG adapter is treated differently. Time is only the notice the device has been connected xy, sometimes an appropriate app like a file explorer opens like my Grade 3 and Galaxy Tab S.
After so you have quick access to the contents of the storage media connected or you can for example use his tablet with mouse and keyboard, which works just fine. Prima!
By the way signaled a small LED on the adapter top the connection of external devices.
I doubt that with the help of this OTG adapter actually as described external hard drives can be operated because it still a significant output current is needed.
In my two 2.5-inch disks, this has definitely not working, they already failed during startup.
- Update: According to Wicked Chili can be a solution with a Y adapter with which the board may on the one hand are powered by electricity, for example, via an external power supply, on the other hand then the correct USB connection to the adapter is available -
Even NTFS formatted media are not recognized, which I think is also very unfortunate.
- Update: According to Wicked Chili that is a problem of the terminal used does not the adapter. Alternatively, the drive can be formatted as exFAT and handle files greater 4GB. -
Also not working has simultaneous access to two connected storage media with me. It is becoming recognized only the first connected device. So of course, the function is installed, fast copy times using the terminal bit of a memory card to a USB stick
I think that's a shame and I ask Wicked Chili and you / you to answer the question:
Is it always like this or have I done something wrong? Happy as a commentary or in the FAQ for the product.
All in all I can recommend the Wicked Chili 5in1 OTG adapter almost 100%.
However, as described missing some desired features, which I do not know if this might just be the general OTG specification is owed, that is "could not be better."
I therefore like to give very good four star.
If this review has assisted in their decision, I would be happy with a click on "vote".
Many Thanks!
