Music enjoyment only after hours of tinkering!

At Christmas, it felt good to me and my loved ones under the Christmas tree of the Philips GoGear 8GB lay. A tiny package that only includes the bare minimum, a Quick Start Guide in really tiny letters that my reading glasses was not sufficient.

So then - Once downloaded the manual as a PDF file, read the first steps and then it should go - if not ....

The big drawback here is probably the software Songbird, which has been installed but not so worked as it should. Having my entire music inventory loaded by unlimited term on the player (also here: no ads, where and what is currently playing), I then tried a lot to delete and rearrange the tracks in playlists, just as I do of my old Creative player was used.

But Pustekuchen - either I'm too blonde, too old, too stupid or all together - I could synchronize anything. Apparently something in the background seemed to expire, but on the player, nothing happened.
After many hours on the PC, with formatting, new play etc. I then downloaded from the Internet a different version of Songbird and used, now it seems to be working so reasonably.

So, so Philips has done a disservice to define this software for the player as standard.
"Drag and drag", the transfer by the way also did not work out and it seems to me, it works because, very awkward.

I can so far only positive reports about the device itself: rugged housing and tactile buttons that you can help yourself well in his coat pocket.
The display is very readable, here you can change both the colors as well as the brightness yet.

While listening to the music, you can use the preset equalizer settings, or they adjust themselves, which I found very convenient.

What bothers me a bit, is the jack for the headphones bottom of the device.
The fact that I use a different headset, which has not a straight but an angled connector, the on / off button may not be to use, you must first turn the plug in accordance with, in order to get the button.

Otherwise, the device is no frills and plays all songs from well-behaved. It horrifies me now before the fumble, if I want to play again sometime soon / remove new songs. Also, I have the impression that the transfer via USB is extremely slow, which could of course be due to my PC, which has seen better days.

I would recommend the player because of its software is not because there are simpler devices.
