Music from the 1920s and 1930s

Being a music fan who does not worry about acting and other aspects of showbiz, I bought this for the music. I'd never heard of Libby Holman, but as far as I'm Concerned she was a singer who I thought might appeal to me, Simply Because I enjoy music by other singers (including singer-actresses) who were around at the sametime and may have met Libby in the course of Their work.

Libby had nine hits in the American charts, the seven most successful being featured in this collection. Am I Blue? provided her breakthrough, while her biggest hit what Body and soul. Moanin 'low, Something to remember you by and Love for sale were all big hits, peakinh at # 6 or better. Her other two featured hits here are I'm one of God's children and You and the Night and the Music, neither of Which made the top 10 degrees.

Libby had a very throaty voice and while I enjoy listening to her, I am not totally surprised to find That One American reviewer is unimpressed. If you have not heard Libby's music before, you might want to check the sound samples before buying. HOWEVER, I'm very pleased with this compilation.
