For me personally, Pink Floyd stands for psychedelic music! The albums up to and including "Atom Heart Mother" are the musical essence of the band for me. Then followed "Meddle" and thus provided the first real break in style of the band towards commercial music. The long "Echoes" radiates a deep calm, but I lack the menace and the strange sound of past albums. Pink Floyd had always let the listener presses into the grooves the sound of light years distant galaxies. With "Echoes" the journey was only enough to the ocean. Maybe it was for the band to leave at the time old ways and adopt new stylistic device. However, I very much hear "Echoes" again and again, as I thereby experience a deep relaxation. The diluted, dripping sound swab and the calls of whales are simply gorgeous. A musical journey into the deep hidden corners of the ocean is also visually perceptible. In this drama was waived times completely, instead spreads a calm and peaceful atmosphere. "Meddle" contains 5 more, much shorter songs, with one or the other out to be a stopgap. But the bottom line, it is a very nice, relaxed album that has a beach and natural feeling. I love the atmosphere of the album easily, despite small weaknesses. An "Meddle" is likely just about everyone will find favor and that's why I would recommend it without reservation! "Meddle" could have been brilliant if the band would have been the choice of songs a little more effort. "Echoes" has very loose deserves 5 stars, but I have to assess the overall work here, I forgive because of the stigma 4 stars.
