I immediately turned to Brita, the world leader which I will not have to fear a shortage of cartridges (because the distributor brands is good, but not necessarily sustainable).
Then left the choice of old oval cartouches (Classic) or rectangular news (Maxtra). I chose Maxtra, the limestone filtration capacity is better (according Brita).
Commissioning could not be simpler: washed the carafe, it trempouille the filter to soak up the water, it is put in place and tap water is filled. There should be discarded rinse water 2 times (2 times to throw the same water, huh: one empty, we re-filled and re-empty or we guard for plants that will not complain, they, of light black veil witness that carbon filtration starts up).
Water from the third filling is then ready to be drunk. And there is day and night: no more unpleasant odor and a neutral taste (well, ok, you may find a slight taste but it fades quickly from the next fill).
I drink tea often and I greatly appreciate the 2nd Kiss Cool effect of Brita carafe: there is more scale deposit in the kettle. In addition, tea is always clear, never disorder, it's still nicer ;-)
On top of the carafe is a cartridge change indicator. This is more a reminder than anything else because it simply count the time from the moment you have initialized (by a long press on the button) during the cartridge change.
To my knowledge, no carafe type of filtration system signals the cartridge wear by any analysis of the water, it would probably be too expensive to implement. Hence the countdown system (here, four weeks materialized by bars).
I am alone to make use of this decanter so I make each cartridge last two months instead of one, you are free to change or not cartridge every 4 weeks.
For those interested, the cartridges are recyclable, some department stores resume them. Think of the airtight bag to take them, it flows !!!
Why 1 star less: the payment system. The weight of falling water from the spout is supposed to raise the little plastic cover that protects the water. Except when poured not strong enough, there it drool happily and we put around the glass as much as inside. It annoyed me so I took the fold lift it when I pour. So I need my two hands, and clean please. Very average huh. Perhaps other Brita carafe models are they better thought now, anyway, the Marella has a serious defect that side.
It is time to stop this novel (oh, you're still here?). I highly recommend this article to drink water, tea and coffee refractory to the water trimballage packs. Even if it is only for a test, the current price is very reasonable and if you are convinced, hurry to buy Brita cartridges - L07324 - Pack of 9 Maxtra Filter Cartridges + 3 cartridges available - Unit Filtration capacity about 150 liters as their price is so interesting.
