I have long possessed a Google Nexus 7 tablet until it has unfortunately fallen off me.
A new device was needed, then came to me the new Memo Pad from the same manufacturer just right.
Scope of supply:
The scope of supply is the same as the Nexus 7:
A USB cable with AC adapter, a quick start guide and a warranty card.
In Memo Pad, a small plastic stand is also still in, with which you upload your tablet and can set up cross-kant very smart!
Dimensions & feel:
The dimensions are very similar. The Memo Pad fits in my old Cases of Nexus 7, only the connections for the USB port and the headphone jack are located at a different location.
The memo pad is a little thicker, but by the plastic back, it is also noticeably lighter.
The back of the Nexus 7 a bit-quality feel, is not so easily slipped out of his hand.
But the plastic of the Memo Pad acts by no means cheap.
Features:
The price of the 16GB Nexus 7 is 199, the memo pad will cost with the same memory only 149th
The Nexus 7 has a Tegra 3 Cortex-A9 processor with 4 cores (1300 MHz), the Memo Pad AMR Cortex A7 Mediatek MT8125 processor with 4 cores (1200 MHz).
Both tablets have a RAM of 1GB.
The Nexus 7 is sold by Google and always equipped with the latest Android version. The Nexus 7 is currently in version 4.2.2, the memo pad to version 4.2.1.
The display of the Nexus 7 feels a little smoother and leaves not quite as fast as the fingerprints Memo Pad.
The image quality is very similar on both devices.
Disadvantage Memo Pad:
- The Memo Pad does not support USB OTG, the Nexus 7 can be connected with an adapter USB sticks.
Advantage Memo Pad:
- It can be an SD card with up to 32GB can be used to increase the storage space. This is possible in any of the Nexus models!
- The Memo Pad has a rear camera with 5 megapixels. The Nexus 7 has only a front camera
Compare user interface:
Here, the Nexus 7 has the edge. The Nexus 7 is supplied with a "bare" Android version, the Memo Pad has some Apps from Asus here that you do not need.
It can be personalized with the latest update now also create multiple users, which is very convenient.
The Memo Pad provides shortly after the first launch already a firmware update on that adds the automatic rotation of the screen. So make sure you update!
At Nexus 7 can be set that the images which have been uploaded in Picasa can be displayed in the Galarie. This works in Memo Pad not.
The camera of the Nexus app I like a little better, it does not have as many on-screen buttons. What also the Memo Pad something bothers me: the images you have taken with the front camera are automatically mirrored after shooting.
One must then manually reverse the mirror at each picture.
Performance Comparison:
I have run several applications and compared.
My feeling is the Memo Pad Launcher runs in a tick faster than the Nexus 7. The scrolling between pages is liquid and without stuttering.
In normal applications, the two tablets hit equally well, me there is no difference in performance noticed.
In both games are also quite equal to, in a game to me but a drop in performance is noticed when Memo Pad - Jurassic Park Builder jerky but very strong at larger parks.
But this was the only tested by me game that was bad in all other games, I could not tell the difference.
Addendum 10.29.2013:
After several tests I have to say that the performance is significantly better at something more complex 3D games at the Nexus 7. Since the MemoPad goes unfortunately yet faster to its knees.
Who is looking for a Tablet, which allows you to gamble elaborate games, engages better for Nexus. 7
I like streame videos from my NAS to the tablet via Wi-Fi. At Nexus 7 worked streaming 1080p content without stuttering, the Memo Pad comes with it is not quite as well understood (MX Player Pro with DTS codec).
The videos are, however, directly in the Memo Pad, so does this without stuttering Full HD Videos from DTS. Here one must then switch to the software calculation in the settings from the MX Player of the hardware calculation.
After first testing the battery life of the Memo Pad is higher, I tested the above applications 3.5 hours intensively on the first day and the battery was still at 75%!
The Nexus was going a bit faster in the knee.
Conclusion:
In my opinion, outweigh the benefits of the Memo Pads disadvantages compared to the Nexus. 7
The ability to use memory cards makes the lack of USB OTG betting and slightly worse screen is compensated by the better battery life.
If you still compares the price, so I can really only advise the Memo Pad the Nexus 7 device preferable.
