On the death of Melody, his beloved dog, the author decides to devote a book, which he wrote in French, the language of his wife. Melody is a blond golden retriever with his chosen friends. In the Land of the rising sun, we do not let animals enter houses. This shocks Akira which deals Melody as a human being and even considered superior to many of them (which is also my opinion). It has a bed in the living room, another near the futon of his masters. This story begins with the end, the death of Melody, Akira Mizubayashi parallels with that of his father. The text is interspersed with "fragments companion escaped from the portfolio of a bitch" in which he speaks of philosophy. He does not like Descartes or Malebranche, who swallowed the animals to the status of machines. However, it has a lot of admiration for Rousseau and (my dear) Montaigne. It also addresses the literature and music, and especially evokes memories we speak, with great emotion, from that shared their lives and gave them all his love. Also, although it is sad that it tells, poignantly, the last moments of melody, I loved this wonderful book, which is not limited to the shared relationship with this partner on all fours, but we also take in the world of poetry and philosophy.
