Investigated this days in advance for my bookworm (Wife) a Christmas present. Compared with other eReaders much my choice on the high-resolution display of her "Kobo Aura H20". Although you do not read in the rain or in the shower, the "H20" is waterproof, according to manufacturer's instructions. The Kobo makes a solid impression, the display is large enough and the high display resolution of 1430 x 1080 pixel resolution guarantees a good sharpness. Even the Kobo with various image files such as JPEG, GIF, PNG, BMP and TIFF can handle. So far so good. For the first start (on / off button is present) the Kobo is connected via the USB connection to a computer or a 5V USB power adapter. After the language is selected and a Wi-Fi network searched, in which you should enter its network key. Here patzte the Kobo for the first time, because the search network was not working. Only after the reset with the paperclip WLAN`s could be recognized. Now you could choose their own WLAN and after entering the network key you will be connected to the portal's Kobo own for registration with an email address and a password. Except for the extra-reset everything went smoothly. The Home Page of Kobo is designed to ensure full Hinlenkung on the Kobo site in the course of the book sale to take place. The first book was coveted found quickly. The intended purchase, however, went wrong, because the payment of the file was only possible with credit card. Since I have no credit card and would like to have, that's it already. And so I turned the Kobo portal and bought from the file with another provider, but this time on the PC. It also has to be complicated, I received only once a .acsm link file without the purchased book to download. In the help section of the seller, I learned that I must first of all install the software from Adobe "Adobe Digital Edition" to get the book. So I had no choice but to load the program "ADE" in Adobe down and to install and forced to create an ID with the e-mail address. By clicking on the link, I now managed to download the book file on the PC. Now even had my new Kobo, which was connected via USB to the PC, be authorized via ADE so that the transfer from the PC works on the Kobo. The transfer of the file worked amazingly. Now at last could be read on the Kobo after great effort the coveted book, but I just thought. The Kobo did not want to show the book once. It helped the other to handle paper clip, after the reset was last seen in "books" the book. Now I tapped his fingers on the book title to finally call. But the Kobo still showed me the book, it seemed to the error message that I should authorize my device only times at Adobe. Somehow I had but far from done. So I deleted the Kobo authorization and authorized new, unfortunately without success. The book could not be display on the Kobo thanks Adobe DRM protection. Even the experienced reset with the paper clip could not overcome the DRM lock despite authorization. The "hard" reset on the factory settings also was not successful. Luckily I was able to encourage my wife to read the coveted Roman on the PC and thus meet the approaching tribulation. The Kobo continues to have a built-in web browser, with which you will be immediately directed to Google. But surfing is not fun, the screen flickered constantly, when pages are loaded, an impertinence. Lastly, I had the idea, the latest firmware on the device to play to eventually eliminate the Authorization error. On the web was read by newer software versions. On the Kobo Web page but no support was found for the purpose of upgrading firmware. So I had the nose finally completed and gave the Kobo back to the seller. In the equipment price of 200, - Euro I lost the fun was too expensive. In other tests I have found no way to configure the initial or home of Kobo displays and adjust according to your taste. The manufacturer it is most important that you as quickly and easily as possible is the main portal for own sale, so there books to buy. Every now and then the error message would not match the WiFi connection something, although I had not left the room where the wireless router is connected to the Kobo appeared. Miss the Kobo you do anyway a right reset button, which avoids the frequent search for a paperclip. Otherwise the Kobo has a slot for a Micro SD card (64Gb with FAT32 are detected). The eReader and used micro SD card have been reliably detected via USB on Windows PC as separate drives. The Adobe DRM protection has certainly spoiled us strong taste on a eReader. As a reader, you want to buy without problems and detours a book in electronic form and can download to the Reader and read without blocking. Conclusion: Who wants to read in all relax a book, is best served with good old and printed book. It does not need electricity, there is no DRM, it can sometimes awarded to acquaintances or be sold again. The high price and the whole circumstances with the eReaders not worthwhile. The traditional book has at home and in their own hands, because it is unnecessary and any cloud, you do not need.
