The gel is recommended for use of the Venus.
I think it is on the one hand, that on the gel is formed of a conductive contact only are the Venus to "blitzdingsen" release. Without bridging the two contacts in addition to the lamp, a flash is Not possible.
On the other hand, the gel feels cool on the skin and soothes this certainly something after lightning.

Price performance is adequate.
