No bad surprises. In fact it is very hard to find a bag for a laptop of 17.3 ", the dimensions do not toujour corespondent. This however is exactly the size (outside measure), my Toshiba Satellite P770 has returned and I laise margin on the sides. As for protection, I saw thicker but it protects well. Image is not bad. I recomande for assé wide laptops.
