First I as described in the package insert a software update made, Netgear plugged into the notebook, firmware is loaded and the rest went on their own.
That was the easiest part, we come now to the tests:
1st attempt Notebook Sony VAIO with Windows 7 Prof. (with Intel WIDI factory of Sony integrated)
Netgear infected on the screen with HDMI and USB, selected the HDMI channel and the software asks for a partner for coupling.
Now the fun begins, my laptop does not find the software WIDI the Netgear ...
The problem is, my laptop has a graphics card with hardware switch and there is no current Intel drivers from Sony (as with a Lenovo Edge with I5 and Intel 3000 graphics card based on the driver).
So quickly we do not give up after a bit of googling could I do otherwise than to load the latest Intel driver from the Intel support website, with the result that my hardware switch no longer works and the AMD 6630 graphics card completely disabled (was me but clear beforehand).
Now I can not gamble more with the computer but at least now shine picture and sound of my notebook wirelessly on the big screen.
Basically, I was up here quite satisfied, we become capable of suffering if you decide to invest relatively current hardware at regular intervals.
Next, I started with the computer the distance to the image degradation or the max. to test possible distance.
In principle, I am been rather disappointed, after measured 3.1 meters begin to emerge on the screen strong artifacts and the sound cuts off. Actually, I would have to really very good expected from the combination of notebook WLAN reception and the Netgear more.
I did everything to improve reception, try eg own WLAN off Netgear box laid differently but everything has not helped more than 3m were not possible with this device combination.
2. attempt HTC One mini with Android 4.3 (Miracast)
This article I can be brief, with the latest Android version on 01.05.2014 it has not worked.
The Netgear and the HTC One mini recognize up to a distance of 1.5m, but again lose the connection and it will not transmit any screen.
After a brief online research it is apparently due to the current firmware, but at this time I had no desire to roll back, because it was clear that the device returns.
+
The Netgear PTV is available very nice and small with the USB power supply to almost any screen with USB.
If it works very easy to use
For all the up to 3 meters of the screen sit great picture and sound transmission in Full HD
-
The low maximum distance from the screen (see whom it reaches at + above)
The device is very demanding with respect to the timeliness of the firmware and the drivers used to feed players
In summary, I have to say that the "standard" unfortunately is not very mature yet and that's why I returned the device.
