Cold Waves + Minimal Electronics /Vol.1 (CD)

Customer Review

It should not be mistaken, cold wave and minimal electronic advertised here reflect only the coldness often associated with synthesizers and rhythm boxes used in the music of the 80 that had not yet fully accepted these instruments. Yet the 17 tracks gathered here do not belong to the movement "cold wave" but the "new wave". To find deep dark atmospheres, one must refer to other works (eg the compilation A Life Less Lived: The Gothic Box (Box 3 CD + 1 DVD)). The music here is much brighter and vivid. We are much closer to Depeche Mode (rather Speak and Spell) Ultravox (Midge Ure period) and New Music. But the originality of this compilation is to have avoided the Anglo-Saxon (aside from a US group). No English so but Belgian groups Groups (3), Dutch (2) French (5, best represented by far!), German (2), Swiss, Swedish, Italian and Canadian (one from each country). Overall, these are great group titles that marked the (small) new wave of community continent. All were products (except American "eleven pond") and appeared on lp, mini-lp or maxi (the excellent Oto - a pleasure to return here) or compilations (German Cologne "ausgang verboten "and the Milan" Youth ivory ") between 1981 and 1986. Some have released CDs from (take the" Bread and General Staff disease "of neon judgment if you can). There are therefore very good here.
