Common simplified one could divide the history of the Cure for their explosive debut album (1979) in 3 phases: the very depressive (17 Seconds / Faith / Pornography, 1980-82), the depressed-pop (various singles and albums until 1987) and the Phase of the endless (often quite successful) variations of Phase 1 and 2 (since then). Kiss Me Kiss Me What makes Kiss Me one of the most significant Cure albums, is that there is a perfect blend of the two early stages anticipates all other band's history. Here, still heavily influenced Pornography-washy-aggressive Agonienummern like The Kiss or Snakepit find just as light and airy (though often melancholy) pop songs like Catch or How Beautiful You Are or funky-racy as Hot! Hot! Hot! or Why Cant I Be You? (Even with horns), as catchy as danceable. The fact that this amazing blend nevertheless results in a harmonious whole is now taking yet well wonder how the first release almost 20 years ago. Improvable there was only the sound and do not want anything more to this well remastered Deluxe Reissue of leaves left. The bonus CD consists of demos and live recordings, for fans a treat, otherwise not indispensable.
