1. Packaging / delivery:
The packaging is very minimalist, simply a cardboard sleeve with a small box and in just the Nexus and charging cable (micro USB) adapter for the power outlet and the small Sim-Kartenschachtöffner.
The scope of supply therefore restricted to the bare minimum.
2. Design / feel:
The design I like very much, because it really classy and high quality appear - it sets itself apart from the plastic and polycarbonate bombers from pleasant, as it has a back made of glass - disadvantage I feel the yet very smooth surface of smartphones in total, so I a TPU Cases have worried - so that part is significantly better in the hand, also the glass is somewhat protected because of a fall, it may be soon over with joy.
The size (4.7 ') provides for a switching from one mobile phone to the 2010 generation (Wave1) first a Umgewöhung represents - after a couple of days, it seems perfectly normal.
Another rather unfortunate circumstance is the speaker on the back - in theory - because in practice I have been able to thus find no disadvantages.
Total posh processing. In the newer hardware revision 11, there is (on the fastboot mode determine volume rockers BOTH hold and switch on) a slightly revised camera version and two small nipple at the back - although my machine is already the latest hardware revision has 11, it has only the modified camera version, the nipple has not - Production time S / N 302 is therefore Februar-2013.
Unlike previous customer reports of workmanship, creaking keys knackendem housing, etc. My equipment is perfectly finished at 100%, no creaking, no gaps, no such thing.
3. Performance:
Without many words: Just great! This part runs smoother than liquid, thanks to 4 cores and 2GB of memory extremely quickly in all situations, you jump from one application to another, like in parallel and the performance never breaks - better it is almost impossible.
Surfing, emailing, games, apps - a real pleasure.
Thanks to Android 4.2.2 to date and updates appear first on the Nexus - The supply of new Android versions is secured for the future.
The heat generation is completely under, only when the battery is charging, while processor intensive applications are started on the back you can feel that the device is getting warmer - but completely harmless.
4. Voice quality / call:
The volume I find extremely loud when making calls that heist at full volume could be loosely think that the handsfree function is activated, at the lowest volume level, it is then "normal".
The speakerphone is also loud on full blast it starts to rumble and tinny sounding - even here, less is more - a total of the Nexus makes no weaknesses in telephony. The reception is also very good.
5. Display:
The display like a high resolution and natural colors - Samsung candy colors "spoiled" the display will probably unspectacular, too dark, feeling faint. I think it's really good, but it could be a bit brighter - in automatic mode, the Nexus controls the brightness consistently too dark, probably to save battery power - one manually adjusted after it is however bright enough.
6. Camera:
Yes, the camera on this was discussed already plentiful. Nominally equipped with 8MP and aufzuzeichen videos in FullHD capable You can not convince me long term. In bad light clear image noise can be seen remedied the HDR (High Dynamic Range) mode, which really contributes to better images.
If you turn up but a little to the settings and try to take pictures in good light as possible, you will get even more than solid results - remain a little pale the images anyway.
7. Battery:
The battery is permanently installed, so it is advisable to handle the battery carefully especially at the beginning, my tip is therefore:
In the first time ever completely discharge the battery can (1-3%) and then continuously charge up to 100%, without the device prematurely remove.
Now, after 4-5 charge cycles the battery unfolds its full capacity, you konmmt loose throughout the day - with Wi-Fi, surfing, camera and games.
But greater than 1 day of intensive use is not in it - I do not feel as disturbing, then every night you can hang the grid anyway.
8. Music Player:
A classic MP3 player application is missing, it is the Nexus, of course, with Google's service "Play Music".
This app plays both stored on the device title and cloud title.
Google offers users up to 20,000 titles from its collection for free upload to - with the Play Music app to play from anywhere.
A credit card is unfortunately needed to use this service.
The sound is via headphones to the 3.5 jack well, not spectacular outstanding but not bad either, just good.
9. Price:
Well the most interesting aspect of the Nexus. Authorized Facility for 299 (8GB) or 349 euros (16GB) in PlayStore (now again readily available), there was now the smartphone already available for around 330 euros in the 16GB version -
In view of the offered performance, hardware, equipment and processing a real reason to buy!
Conclusion: Top device at a top price!
Actually 4 1/2 stars - because the camera could be better, the display is likely to calm just a tad bit brighter therefore come - hence 1/2 to 1 star deduction.
